Jody Norstedt was but he resigned before layoffs were announced. Taylor Budge was retained, so may be a increased role for her, probably not PXP but shows they are not canning everyone and believe she has a important role with UND athletics. Alex Heinert also appears to have been retained. While he has his CBS Sports assignments as well that is not every weekend.

Would not be surprised for basketball and volleyball to see Ryan Cunningham come back to doing PxP. He did some previously for those sports as a freelancer for the games that were broadcast on Bally/Fox Sports North.

I could see Jody going back to WDAY. Don’t think he is interested in relocating right now and don’t see a lot of other opportunities in the broadcast world in the area.

I’m so high on Moni. Wonder what other offers he’ll get

NDSU has offered him too.  For what it is worth, yes, Richman is hard to play for. But the ones in the portal so far I am okay with. Skunberg had a good run but his time was up. Morgan can go. To be completely honest it was a 50/50 option if it would be a bucket or a turnover every time they forced it into him. He will not be a major contributor at a P5 school if he gets a big NIL offer like is speculated. If Federson, White or Wheeler-Thomas go, I will be more upset.

Lose by 64, Mal needs to quit chewing out every one and chew herself out

I see Kacie scored half of the teams points again tonight. Is there anyway they are any better next year after she graduates? Not sure the kids from Horace can enroll that early to help Mail out.

Right now, I say Jory is better coach, but jury is out still some on him too. This team Jory has recruited that is playing right now is better team than Mallory has recruited right now. The difference is he recruited Elle Evans and Draper to his team two years ago. Their length athletic ability right now far exceeds any talent we have recruited so far, we have on this team. The question was this talent any better than the talent we recruited two years ago or has Jory coached them better to develop better and also coached them to play controlled game that we don't have 20 plus turnovers a game, that take good shots and have your players taking shots you want out your offense. Second that our team play a better team basketball. Mallory talks about defense, but we can't play consistent 40 minutes of defense. I get it were young team, but I haven't seen that much improvement from the beginning of the year. I hear play by play color announcer say that's not shot you want to take but it's okay because she made it, but real good coaches don't let it slide like that usually pull their player bench them to teach them that is not acceptable for what you want as coach. I think Mallory let's this happen too many times to where we get to this undisciplined style of basketball. I will also go farther this season started last spring when we lost assistant coaches and i feel took to long to get in place to be prepared for this team which everyone new was going to be young team. Second, I heard today on play by play they weren't able to get Canadian players until school started further putting us behind on development things like this can't happen to this large a group of players on team. I just think with this young of team needed all time they could get for development. Here again Roster construction should have been looked at we could have added transfer that could have played right away. These criticism about little things may be overboard but good coaches i have found always pay attention to little things like this.

Mallory will be back next year but i think she will be short rope things need to improve in quality of play and look to have team that can compete game in game out and if we see another year like this year the AD is going to have to make some hard decisions about the program. Und provides many opportunities to build a good program with facilities, resources to keep good players, and still has above average fan support and if we would start winning consistently this could even be better. I thought we would have some growing with Mallory when she was hired but right now, she has plateaued and that is not good enough to be long term coach for this program.

Collins has recruited Evan’s (who I hope They can keep) and Draper, but his freshman(Koenen, Krawzinski, Simon and the younger Hamling) all all very good with great length and athletism. Collins has a very good thing going in Fargo right now. And it sounds like he has some more good kids from Minnesota coming in next year. He knows getting kids from MN and ND is the best opportunity for success here.

You still think Collin’s is a bad coach

He does. I have nothing against Mallory, but she does not have the right kids to play in the Summit right now. Other than Kacie, and possibly Pemberton, I am not sure there is a kid that would make the rotation on a top 4 team In the league. Unless she has some top recruits coming in ready to play next year, I think what you saw today may be the norm next year. Honestly, I’m not sure they are a Top 4 college women’s team in the state of ND next year without Kacie. Hurst seems to have some talent, but if she isn’t handling the ball and casting up 3’a she seems very disinterested.

    He’s a clown but a hell of a coach

he turned around ndsu quickly while we are sinking

I’d rather have a clown and a good coach then be sinking

I don’t think he is not well liked by opposing teams or media but maybe I’m wrong. But he can coach, and most players that left didn’t play or went home to Europe.  As long as he is at NDSU and Mail is at UND, I think NDSU will dominate this series.

Jack Michael’s said last year in UND/ndsu womens game Mallory called a timeout with a minute left in UND victory to substitute players so the seniors could be acknowledged by the crowd. Simple as that. Jack said NDSU coach called a timeout with 5 seconds left with a huge lead for no other reason than be a jerk. Wasn’t substituting. Jack said it was bush league by NDSU coach. Interesting

I think you and Jack better go back and look at the play by play of that game. Bernhardt took a timeout with 7 seconds left with the ball leading by 9. The only sub she made was Hoskins out and Hurst in. Hoskins was coming back for another year and it was a mid season game, not senior night anyway. It wasn’t to recognize anyone. If Jack is calling Collins Busch league what did he say about Mallory last year.

    Poach an NDSU position coach

You would have to get the offense quality control guy. I think other position coaches at NDSU make more than 88k.

More like best case scenario for NDSU. A chance to avenge the loss that stings the most, in the same season, at home, in a much more meaningful game. You know UND would play scared $hit less in that game. It would be a boat race in the other direction.

What are you talking about. I thought UND proved they have left NDSU in their dust. That game of total domination proved it is just like the late 90’s early 2000’s. UND is now the dominant program in North Dakota?

too much crying in the post game press conference?

Not sure why they played this week. I thought last week was for the National Championship. Storming the field, crying at the press conference. That doesn’t happen after a mid season win. They already accomplished more this season than they ever expected to. The season is a success for UND’s players and most of their fans. They finally beat the mighty Bison.

Hard to adjust when your players aren't as good as the opponents.  Recruiting and retainage.

There is some talent on UND's roster and I really like Danielson. Seems like a good kid and really hard worker, but if he is starting and playing big minutes for a D1 team there may be an overall talent issue.

Translation: If a women’s team plays defense like any other men’s team they (women’s team) will be called for more fouls.

Translation: in any kind of basketball, if you are reaching, hacking and hand checking all the time expect to pick up some fouls.

I still say they do.  It took a bunch of free throws for NDSU to win.

It is frustrating yes.  However, this is a better team that last years.  Last years team loses this game by 10+

    They will get it done.

I watched the game and the officiating did not favor NDSU. How many FT’s were intentional fouls at the end of the game? At least 12. Kacie was completely bailed out in the 3rd/4th quarter and the drive when she had the ball on her hip. They called a foul and all she did was fall down. There was zero contact.

if you are going to play as aggressively as UND’s women play defense, expect to have more fouls than your opponent. They are constantly reaching bumping ball handlers.

I'm sure they'll use the same protocol they use to "handle' all their unsportsmanlike conduct/late hits.

Stig is kind of walking a thin line here if he suspends the kid when he got no suspension for his arrest a couple of years ago.

I agree.  Bison have won two games so far.  How did they pull this off or was it Portland not playing well.  We need more comparison.  They play Montana next.  Tonight we play Idaho.  We could use another road win.

I agree Portland didn’t play well against NDSU but the Bison were also without their best player. Portland would probably beat NDSU most nights even if Nelson was healthy, at least early in this season. But looking at Portland’s past scores this year, they lost to #1 N. Carolina by 7, #12 Michigan State by 1 and beat Villanova, this is a good win for NDSU. The Bison have some really talented true freshmen that need game experience. By March if they make the Summit Tourny, they may be able to make some noise.

If you think something someone says on a message board has any bearing on what the staff and players actually think, it says a lot about your common sense and intelligence.

I didn’t say what is said on a message board would affect how players or staff approach a game. A poster implied it would and should be a great motivator for next years game. Just pointed out that if that would be a motivator that is a bad sign for a program.

Revealing this would be a huge team motivator on October  14, 2023 at the Hawks' Nest.

If your team needs something like this to motivate them against a rival and the fact that they have been getting the s#*t kicked out of them by this rival since the switch to D1 isn’t enough to motivate them it says a lot about your staff and players.

    Would agree.

But, somebody in MN athletic department might recognize the upside to this coach vs available female coaches and persuade enough evolved to move forward.

Not sure U of M will ever have the guts to can a U of M legend.

UND has no one on the first team All-conference MVFC team. How is Bo not first team All-MVC for starters?

Because voters are not paying attention. Not sure why Belquist didn’t make it. It is really just a numbers game, but his should have been good enough. If there wasn’t a full back on the team, Lubtke wouldn’t have made it as a RB because his numbers aren’t great, even though if you were going to pick one TB to be on your team it may be him.

There we’re a few voters that posted their votes last year and some, including SDSU’s beat writer Zimmerman did not have Christian Watson on their first team because his numbers weren’t great. They don’t take into account NDSU runs 75% of the time and half the season he had a QB (Patterson) that couldn’t throw the ball. Watson was the best receiver in the conference last year. And Belquist may be the best this year.
