It looks like a Kestrel flexing its wing.

Like the student at the hockey game this weekend when he yelled lets go hawks. Nobody knew which team he meant.
Either way he couldn't lose ...

I'm sure we come up with both a primary logo committee and a secondary logo committee, so long as the we have a forming committee that kinda says so.
Before any committtees are formed, the Twamley Twits should form the appropriate study group(s), task force(s) and retain another raft of "consultants" who are "between jobs" ... order, man order.

Has Vegas set the odds on any given name yet?

So Fighting Crows will or will not be implemented immediately? Will it be unofficial when they announce Fighting Sparrows won, because they have to register and trademark it...then I assume it becomes official? Then maybe 35 years later we figure out which style bird head befits the Fighting Finches. So in that case at this weeks games we will still be UND, not yet known as the Fighting Warblers? I'm just glad this whole thing is crystal clear
Considering how intellingent crows are, that wouldn't have been as odious as some of the choices. The fact there's a Crow tribe probably would have made it DOA.

Why would they do that when the fix has been in for the sUNDogs since the beginning?
I still think Spirit has an outside chance.

Reagan flew in and out of here. Roosevelt ranched here for a few years and said that experience made him a stronger and better man.
Big, big difference.
And I'll bet he stayed in a Holiday Inn Express too ...
Whatever gets you through the night.

I'm not really warming to either of these remaining choices. The Rough Riders' ties to the state are tenuous at best. It's like having a choice of the "Gippers" because Reagan wore a Sioux jersey at some point in the past. Hawks is, well pretty damn common. Even though I love birds of prey, I'm not really a fan of using something everyone else uses. So, I'll revert to the "tried and true" coin toss and hold my nose when it dictates my vote ...

But from a ... < gasp! > ... Republican? The horror.
If it's anything like the recent fiasco at the University of Iowa when they selected a new president, any faculty blowback will be couched in the fact he has "no experience" in higher ed.

I don't think UND is going to go through a similar process for the logo as they did for the name. They'll simply release what the logo is and move on from there. However, there will be a lot of Hawks voters who are very disappointed and a lot of Roughriders voters saying "I told you so," which could lead to future protests, unfortunately.
Whatever the name is, I don't think they can turn the logo decision into a bigger clusterf**k than this, unless they invited everyone on earth to submit their designs in free hand on a bar napkin and/or through interpretative dance.

I'm not trying to make people sound dumb or uninformed, but kinda as teasing me (them knowing I'm pretty vocal about support about Roughriders) I get a lot of my friends who are still in school who send me a picture of that blackhawk logo captioned "pretty good reason to vote for fighting hawks" and it's not facetious. I have quite a few Facebook friends who changed it to their profile picture as well.
Do they actually know the back-story on that proposed Blackhawk logo?

Well now I have a good reason to not donate when the alumni center calls. Truly embarrassing that we will be Hawks. Flickertails would be better. Rough riders pairs well with Fighting Sioux. Screw the local yokels opposed to Rough riders because of the high school.
If that's the threshold for your support of the University, good riddance.

Looks like I'll have to flip a coin to decide between awful and terrible ...

I'll wonder if they'll try to bid on outfitting some of the NC$$ schools that meet the NC$$'s stamp of approval for hypocrisy such as Florida State, Utah, etc.

It would be fine, if you want to be thought of as a bunch of hicks.
Or rubes.
Or whatever other word conjures up the image of backward morons.
If that's what you want, go for it.
I never realized the oil boom turned North Dakota into an urbane, cosmopolitan "it spot" on par with Manhattan, Stockholm or London. I can't wait until it's featured in Architectural Digest or Destinations.

I give regularly, and employer matches that. i also occasionally throw some extra in for different campaigns. I don't see that changing, and I have no regard for cretins who would base their support for the school on its teams' nickname.

So... does the second runoff mean there is no longer a conspiracy in place?
I talked to the Pope, the Queen of England, Janet Yellen at the Federal Reserve and the Rothschilds in Paris, and they said they'll do whatever it takes to get Fighting Hawks in place.

Born: Union Hospital, Mayville, ND
I find Nodak, when used by a non-North Dakotan toward a North Dakotan, is used as a derogatory term intended to mean "backwards" or "hick".
Nodak, please ...

I'm no fan of Rough Riders, but if the SEC can successfully market 3 Tigers and 2 Bulldogs, then I'm guessing UND could figure out how to differentiate itself from a CFL team in Saskatchewan, a local high school, and a minor league hockey team in Iowa.
Not to mention a high school in Des Moines.

If Nodaks is selected, I really don't see UND creating a new logo. Way too much money has already been spent on this nickname fiasco. I honestly believe that they will just put "Nodaks" underneath the interlocking ND and that will be it. So I guess if you are a person that didn't want a new neickname and logo, Nodaks is probably the best option for you.
Sure they will. What better way to market a new name than to assign a logo/design to it, (probably after yet another clusterf*ck of a contest) slap it anything that doesn't move, and wait for those royalties to roll in?

Its not sports betting by definition of federal law. Federal law states its illegal to bet on teams (outside of Vegas), but these sites you are not betting on the team you are betting on the players. Thats how its legal...for now.
And Nevada begs to differ and is requiring these sites to get a gaming license. There's as much "skill" involved in fantasy sports as there is playing the slots. Anyone who thinks otherwise is either lying or completely delusional. And the fact that the bigger sites are run by professional gamblers doesn't really help their cause, or pro sports' attempts to show how "clean" they are.

Eh, what the hell ...
So I Guess Fighting Hawks It Is
in UND Nickname

I have no idea if the writer is a good designer or not, but a clusterf**k logo design contest similar to the last dog 'n pony show would be even more embarrassing than the name fiasco.. Pick a few random "stakeholders" and give them the mission to do the job. At least we'll know who to blame.
