Yeah, but you paid for it by all the time on the couch. :D

Great; now they all know another of my weak spots?

I'm transferring my file to Wilbur.   I went to you to deal with my gf trauma, and now I gotta go to Wilbur to deal with this.   Plus, with him, you just eat popcorn and watch old westerns, and you get to play table top-hockey if you stay on your meds between appointments.

  2. ZPar represents to me the kind of player who, when you say "net presence," shows that doesn't have to mean big banger who will put up big penalty minutes.   His stick skills were his bread and butter, but a shytload of his goals came from just being around the net.  Stick skills, as I said, plus first-rate anticipation skills and toughness.   It helps, but you don't have to be big to be big around the net.

Word on the 'net is that both Leonard and Perreault will be returning to BC for their SO years. That's 120 pts right there.  :0
Gauthier signed and no word yet on #4 pick Smith, their leading scorer.  Wonder if Smith will sign or keep their big line intact.

If Celebrini doesn't sign, a line with him and Eiserman would be insane next season.
Both BC and BU look to be very very good again next year.

They have a serious problem though--can't win when it counts, despite all that talent.   There must be a goat curse or something in there somewhere.   That or they just refuse to play a full 60.

  4. What specifically is the problem "from the neck up?"  It's a good catchall phrase, but what exactly are we talking about, other than they haven't been winning in the NCAAs?

  5. Maybe I just have higher expectations of a program like ours, which used to be considered the best or at least one of.   Now we are content beating our rivals because they lose their best talent?  We used to say, "Bring your best and be ready to lose."   I hope the players and staff haven't lowered their standards like we have here.

    :D

But we have to get back to old fashioned UND playoff hockey. The continued success of our program depends (in part) on it.

What is "old fashioned UND playoff hockey" exactly, assuming it is something other than just better results?

As soon as I get done planning the parade route, I’ll move on to commemorative items such as pucks, t-shirts, and ball caps.

    We'll provide the jeerleaders.

  8. Before this thread dies out, congratulations to one of the best college hockey fans ever:  Puck Swami.  He has been a diehard Pio fan and a fan of all college hockey programs for a long, long time and is probably feeling pretty good right now.

Minnesota, Michigan, Michigan State, Wisconsin, BC, BU. Every blue blood except Denver. Teams with an embarrassment of talent, riches and advantages. And all with a longer period of natty futility than UND, an apparent washed up has been.

Shut them down. They should be ashamed of themselves.

Then there's Hovey's voice of reason.

No one has ever had more Championships than Michigan….until now!!

Better DU than Michigan.   Especially given the age of nearly all their titles.

Observe how DU handles the first 10 minutes of the 3rd period, & see how it differs from UND's style.

UND was something like 20 - 1 this year with a lead going into the 3rd.   Before MIchigan.  Still, hard to criticize the scheme based on those results.
