Its not even just banners or pairwise rankings that get to me. Its great to win the NCHC and its always nice to be ranked. For me, the best part of the Hak regime what that making the NCAA tourney was almost a forgone conclusion. He certainly had some close calls, but he always found a way to get there. Then there was the first round which also seemed like it was almost a guaranteed win, and the number of Frozen Four appearances made it so much fun. Sure BC had his number, but still. At least we were watching hockey right at the end.
Yes and the same crap went on that's going on now. How many people wanted Hakstol fired because he couldn't win the big one? This is a never ending cycle. The only way to solve this problem is to win a title every year.
People need to realize there are many good programs in the country and every one of them wants the same thing. After 25 years of solid finishes and a few national titles and many conference titles there are bound to be a few down years.
Any suggestions from people on the sight as to they you would think would be a good pick to coach this team and reasons why that person is a good fit?

Devils looking impressive after falling behind 2 games to start series. Akira Schmid looking very comfortable in goal for the Devils. Hard to believe just 2 years ago he was tending in the USHL.

Johannes was the second highest available scorer at his announcement. And he's big and his PIMs say mean. Again, he's a one-year backfill rental.
Judd's rights being traded (PIT -> ANA) and then signed after he said he's returning probably caught them off guard. This is amazingly good under that scenario.
Don't let your sensible facts get in the way of the negative narrative taking place in this forum. Don't let the sky that's falling hit you in the head either.

In case you ever wondor why most other fans thinks we are dicks this is why, why the F we as a fan base root for east coast kids to beat Midwest kids is beyond me , take my account away as I am done with this board any way , but never wonder why others hate us , spend 5 Mins here and it is obvious.....
If other fan bases don't hate your team it means your irrelevant. What does cheering for Minnesota get for you? Respect for the Midwest? Good luck with that.

Berry = Lucia
That means you better keep him around because Lucia has 2 national titles. Berry has another one in him according to this.

People complain the staff doesn't try new things when clearly they focused on a defensive minded game plan the second half of the year after trying to have a more offensive focused players in the lineup the first half of the year.
People complain the staff doesn't try new combinations because they weren't winning, yet win they did start winning, people complained about who was in the stands.
I mean, maybe I'm wrong, but it's almost like people just want to complain.
Your not wrong, in fact your spot on!!

I don't see anyone who is not safe - remember, this is the AD who extended the 5-6 Bubba after one of the worst season of coaching calls I have ever seen.
I'm talking about safe with this fickle fan base not the A D.

C'mon, man. @Goon did that because he believes this program isn't in a bad place as some others do. Why the shot?
None of us actually know what was going on between Jake and Berry.
C'mon man everybody here has the answers to everything whether they are true, hypothetical or completely fabricated. People don't understand there are plenty of quality programs and all those programs are working towards the same goal.
It's a never ending cycle of calling for coaches heads on a platter. Hockey, football, basketball. It doesn't matter. Coach Bernhard may be the only safe coach on campus but look out if they dont win the tournament their in this weekend all bets are off!!
Plenty of complaints but very few answers from what I've read. The
last post I read apparently a 20 win season is the new goal post until that's moved again.

I’ll be your huckleberry…
Barring an NCHC playoff championship this weekend, Berry will wind up with either 18 or 19 wins on the year. 3rd time in 8 seasons with win totals in the teens. Hakstol’s WORST season was 2012-2013 with 22 wins.
Perhaps he can be coaxed out of his NHL gig and come back here and when he doesn't win a national title the name on this thread can be changed and we can go back 10 or 12 years and call for Hakstols firing all over. Am I the only person thats sees a never ending pattern here?

No. Not in the least. Chalk that up to fan arrogance. Easy to run your mouth and never have to back any of it up.

Getting to the Frozen Four is fun, but ultimately the Hak era is the Buffalo Bill's period in terms of NCAA performance with plenty of heartbreaking losses and a Red Sox like cursed feeling. And i might be in the minority but I definitely value regular season titles higher the final five/frozen faceoff the fact that we hang banners for them would indicate the program does as well. This year has been a disappointing one but to ignore and diminish the success of the previous 3 seasons is pretty short sighted.
I am totally on board with your view. The first goal is to win the regular season league title and go from there. League titles are important like it or not.
Winning the league title will get you into the national tournament in the league North Dakota plays in and after that as we all know it's a crap shoot. It's one and done and anything can happen. That's what people need to get a grip on.
You can be totally prepared and that still does not guarantee a victory. Many times we have seen North Dakota outplay an opponent and come up short. Happens more than one would like.
There are many top end programs in the country and North Dakota has great facilities but if you compare Grand Forks to other locations, that may present a challenge depending on what is important to a potential recruit.
For the most part this program has been solid at the least and high end alot of that time the last 25 to 30 years. The fan base is very spoiled and fails to appreciate the accomplishments of the program in my opinion. Many people think you just open the doors and the program will run itself. That's not the case.
As we see there are no easy wins and many teams come out with their best effort against teams like North Dakota. Do I like missing the national tournament? No. But it happens and it will happen again no matter who's in charge.
Just one man's opinion here. Take is for what it's worth.

I'm not a knee jerk type of guy. I'm not foolish enough to think this program is so much better than other programs. Those days are over. If your expecting a title every other year you'll be disappointed.
During the Hakstol Era the team was in the frozen four almost every year. That wasn't good enough either. Nothing will satisfy many people on this site except a title every year. That's not gonna happen anywhere.
I recall complaints about not winning the big game during the Hakstol Era. Brad Berry comes in and wins and is a hero now people turn on him and say he won with Hakstols recruits. Gimme a break!
I see plenty of complaining here but no answers of how or what to fix. That doesn't surprise me because I doubt anybody here would have any valid solutions to the perceived problem or problems.

No kidding. Everyone on this site has answers to every perceived problem with the program. It's comical to read this stuff.

I am still on the fence about Sather, but the constant "rebuilding" is getting old.
When you keep losing conference freshman of the year it is constant rebuilding. It's like losing your best player from each freshman class.

Have watched/read this forum from a far for a very long time, but come on.......What about the rest of the guys who have stepped up time after time after time? Everyone cracks me up. Sanderson this/that, Sanderson should do this/that...this player sucks, this player needs to get a clue etc. EVERYONE take a step back and enjoy what these kids/team/coaching staff have accomplished thus far (including Sanderson). ZERO on this forum expected anything but a .500 season or less. The comments on this board are hilarious 80% of the time. Most posting on here can't even skate, let alone judge a group of Sioux players. Name the last Sioux team to overcome this much roster turnover, as many injuries and adversity... I would argue there isn't one that checks all those boxes in Sioux history.
Everyone take a deep breath and enjoy what we have been given to witness so far this year. Remember, 14 new faces, a top player leaving on the first day of school and the countless ups and downs have lead us all to this point, including a first place spot at Xmas break. But then in January, most wanted a new coach, play the back up goalie, send this kid and that kid packing etc. Give me a freaking break.
Regardless what happens the next three weeks, this team will go down as one of my favorites in recent memory, if not ever in my 9 years attending games. This is my opinion.
North Dakota could suit up a group of 21 mannequins and nothing less than a national title would would be a failure. Coach Berry has won 3 consecutive NCHC coach of the year awards but if a national title is not won people will question him and may even call for his firing. Tale this forum with a grain of salt.
