Looked at Coach Young's Twitter account and he has recently re-posted a number of tweets from high schools thanking UND for showing up to open gyms. Does anyone know if he still has ties to the UND program?
One can only assume he is still on friendly terms with everyone - he knew both Motherwell and the new assistant prior to coming here but know nothing otherwise to confirm it.

This is huge - he brought a lot of experience in recruiting and player relationships to the team - gotta say it reflects well on the administration to give a person another chance, but the situation hasn't changed at UND since he left (in that the head coach is younger than him and thus there really isn't an opportunity to move up at UND).
Saw the Herald story and have since got a chance to talk to Coach Motherwell - he is back for his family and because of his close relationship with Mallory. He said it actually went very well at Central Michigan especially recruiting. If anything I'd say he is giving UND another chance as opposed to administration giving him another chance. Either way this is a coup by and/or good luck for Mallory. It looks as though she/they are getting pretty aggressive recruiting again!

Exactly: Hurst, Beal, Aumer, Vanderwal, McCarthy need all the reps that they can get.
I took a look at the players minutes in conference tournaments and WBI for a few teams last year and the distribution looked the same in both. It would make sense to get reps for the players who will be here next year but who knows what the plan is?

I find it odd that there is zero mention of where DJ Davis is. She was playing two weeks ago and hasn't appeared to be around since then.

Where was DJ Davis on Saturday?

The 'Famous February Flame Out of '22' was due to fatigue because the top 7 or 8 played too many minutes. Borowicz just played 40 minutes vs Manhattan to get that all important November win.
Same as last year. -

Every time we get sped up like this in games like this we start throwing ball away and getting ton of turnovers. It’s good to see the three freshmen getting more playing time even though they are making mistakes but it something to learn from and to be used for teaching in practices. They are ones making push here at the end to close the gap some. This team needs a win and they need to learn offensive pace to play at they can win with when they speed up defense they have to remember they have to work their offense. I just thought we would be making it next level for this year and here we are again fighting to get to where we were last year. I just hope we have light go off we make the jump. I don’t know but it feels like program is stuck in this continuous loop of progressing so far and we can’ t break through to next level. I sometimes instead making wholesale changes in coaching personnel they just need somebody from outside to help coaching staff identify things that are hampering them from moving ahead could and with a few changes the direction the program could start moving forward. I just feel it not large changes but small changes that make a difference in teams performance but when your so involved with program coaches don’t even realize that they are missing these changes or their thought process doesn’t even go there. I think this where the AD’s could help with establishing this in their job performance reviews of coaches because even if coach doesn’t make changes it at least make them to think outside the box. I may be totally wrong on this but even in my business we higher different consultants that review what we do looking to improve the business and I wonder why it doesn’t more at this level sports.
That's really hard to read.
Are you saying that if they do the same thing over and over and expect different results they are going to be disappointed?

Yes, the roster is a mess because we had a team with 6 freshmen, most of whom did not report until school started. Then we had a sophomore class that we were putting all our hope in, thinking they were ready to play and compete this year. However, this has not been the case, and here are my observations.
Looking at that sophomore class, only one of them, Hurst, had any extensive minutes last year, and she seemed capable of scoring. However, this came at the cost of her not being anywhere close to ready to play defense, and she spent most of her time in foul trouble. Beal was expected to get significant minutes, but in hindsight, she only played 9 minutes a game the year before, and she struggled to find her offense. Despite having a tremendous amount of athletic ability, she hasn't mastered it yet. I believe she needed to be put in a position where she could succeed offensively, but this hasn't happened, so she again only got limited playing time. Vanderwall is next. She has shown flashes of good play, but when matched up against mobile centers, she gets beat on defense. Again, she's another player we haven't put in a position to succeed with her talents on the offensive side of the game. On defense, if we played zone like Mayville State used, where they had their center play the middle and others played matchup zone, I believe Vanderwal could have played effectively enough to stay out there and would have been a rebounding presence.
Aumer was expected to play but hardly got any playing time last year, only seeing 3 minutes a game. She started slow but played better toward the end because of her hard work. Jardine was not even close to contributing. Then we have no juniors; the last one transferred late in the summer. Then we have what I call the Senior class: Kacie was expected to carry the load and did a very good job, but it would have been a much better season if she had more support around her. Hoskins, again playing out of position, held her own, but I think she was worn down both physically and mentally from this season. Davis was brought in to play defense but had to play additional minutes, becoming a liability on the offensive side of the ball. Finally, we have Oberg, who I believe was hurt for the first half of the season but did play the role she was brought in for in the last half of the season.
Mallory should have seen this coming after we finished last season and should have been looking into the portal to find at least two players to go with Kacie that could have started right away for us. We would have had two fewer freshmen recruits, but the starting 5 could have been built around to develop some of these players. This is why we are now losing games by 40 to 50 points and have a team now that is in no better shape, if not worse, to start next season. I don't see how we fix this unless we have more roster turnover again coming after the season. But what I am afraid of happening is that we will lose the players we could build around in the future. I am disappointed in Mallory; I thought she was more on top of the program, but from my point of view, she was not ready to coach at this level. However, I believe she could become a good coach, but it may not be this go-around.
