see my above post about uni and st thomas....that would be six...is that enough tho?

and uni would have to add hockey AND get a NCHC (summit ) invite and that would difficult in a lot of ways but hockey is very very popular in iowa

Pretty sure basketball drives the bus at UNI.  They aren’t leaving the MVC thus won’t be going to the Summit League, unless it’s football only.

    Just an observation:

    • Weiser (MD) out as president
    • Forkel (not an MD) coming in as CEO (and has previously held president/CEO titles at other hospital systems)

Makes ya wonder if that comes into play.

On the record, Altru states it doesn't have anything to do with it. But maybe?

When the Herald asked if Weiser's separation was voluntary, Bonzer said it was the Altru Board of Directors’ decision.

“These changes are not related to Todd Forkel’s arrival,” she wrote, referring to Tuesday’s full announcement. “We are thrilled to welcome Todd to our executive team next week.

Strange timing considering Dr. Weiser was just named the Chair of the ND Hospital Association.

  3. Looks like the Hugo's Concert series is back this summer.  They've announce three of the four concerts.

    May 7th:  PopRocks

July 9th: Travis Tritt and Rodney Atkins

    July 21st: Johnny Holm

    August 12th: TBA

Throw in the country bands for Rockin up North Fest (Little Texas, Blackhawk) and 90's country music fans should be happy.

Now to see the lineup for the Greenway Takeover Festival.

It's nice to have live music shows returning to downtown GF.  I do miss the Blues on the Red and concerts in the garden at the ND Museum of Art.  Hopefully they both come back soon.

Got to get past the hockey against the other sports.

the biggest thing I see is marketing, they do and F- 0n marketing games for other sports.

when hockey expects smaller crowds they have tons of promotions.

need a few business in GF to step up and be promoters of other sports, discounted tickets, family packs, tv ads, bill boards all he way to Medora, Bowman, Fortuna, Pembina and Whapeton and in between

how about a class assignment in the marketing classes

a free ticket to any sport generates income inside the arena

the school to the south is already advertising football

Good idea, unfortunately the REA controls the marketing I believe.

The whole site could have been laid out bettter.  If the whole property was built today, rather than 20 years ago, ya gotta think that they would build some type of mixed-use "main street" with the arena in the middle.  Almost like Nashville and the Predators arena.   Kinda annoying that with how big the property is, they didn't at least save more space for apartments or this type of mixed use area on the south side of the property closest to campus - along 6th ave n I think.  The apartments near the med school could have gone there, maybe shorter buildings but more spread out along that street with some college bars on the ground level - incorporate the book store into those buildings, etc.

Are bars allowed on the Bronson property being it’s a dry campus?  Not sure how that would work.  I seem to recall there was an exemption for the footprint of the Ralph and Betty so alcohol could be served there.  Not sure how Suite 49 was able to do it.

If we beat sdsu they are squarely on the bubble.  Or should be.  Also Tommy was solid today.  Gutsy... guy stood there and took how many hits today without flinching?  The placement on his throws today was perfect.  Haters gonna hate anyway though.

Agree that they should be on the bubble if we beat them as they will only have six DI wins.  They do do have an FBS win but would also be on a two games losing streak and we’d be on a three game winning streak.  Don’t know enough about the resumes of the other bubble teams mentioned.  But beating SDSU could at the very least, knock them out and at least get us in the conversation.

  7. Tough shooting night.  I like how Bruns and Mathews look.  Norman and Tsotsne will contribute offensively once they adjust to the DI game.  Lots of players still finding their role. Looks to be a tough year.

The biggest question I had after leaving the game tho was how did we not have our cheerleaders at the game.  First game of the season and no cheerleaders?  Weird. Also, not a fan of the video for the player intros.

Northside has moved into the former Suite 49/Albatross building. Nice upgrade. Paved parking!

Says they are open til 8:00 pm.  Wonder if they’ll change that for game days or when their are other events in the ralph?

No kidding...  The amount of crying by our fan base this season has truly surprised me.  A lot of the complaining thus far seems to be unjust, imo.

I agree there has been a lot of unjust criticism.  But some of it is justified.  The fourth down call vs NDSU and the using of a time out coming out of a half before running your first play.  Those are two very glaring mistakes that should not be made at this level.
