  1. I don't think I have ever told this story here, but this seems like a good time. It was June, 2016. My brother asked Brad to come to my mom's house with the national championship trophy. My mom didn't know he was coming. He walked in and said "Hi I'm Brad Berry." She said "Well I know you are!" He spent about 45 minutes talking with us. My mom had stage 4 cancer and died about 3 weeks later. Class act by Mr. Berry.

  2. I am sorry to say that my brother, who you have known as SiouxVolley, has passed away in the summer of 2020. It was noticed that several people questioned where he was on issues, and I should close that loop. He was a strong Sioux sports advocate, especially womens basketball & volleyball and mens basketball & football. He had strong opinions on a lot of issues, but on this site it was regarding UND's path forward, especially concerning athletic conference affiliations. A Chemical Engineer with a masters degree, he also wanted success for the academic programs at UND a

  3. Hello everyone. I'll check back throughout the weekend and would be happy to try to answer any questions or clear anything up that I can. I think 'Walsh Hall' said it above.... the old model is now antiquated. I am a big fan of the printed product and have multiple newspapers delivered to my place, but online is undeniably a better product. You get news throughout the day, instead of once. You always have it with you (your phone) all the time instead of having to carry around a physical newspaper if you want to access it, you can get videos (highlights) embedded in stories, you can get ne

  4. Tommy "Gun" Schuster is the real deal. He is a winner. Wins state championship in high school in Michigan. Wins Michigan Player of the Year. Plays as a true freshman for UND against Sam Houston State (ranked opponent) and wins. Now during his first year as the full time starter for UND he has UND 3-0 in the MVFC with a top 5 team ranking. Is this all coincidence? I think not. All you quarterback coaches out there need to step back, stop examining the trees, and just look at/appreciate the forest. Tommy Schuster is a winning quarterback with the intangibles. He's leading UND footbal

  5. Bubbs is such good people its ridiculous. Bringing the students pizza before the games, talking to people on the street that others wouldn't give 10 seconds of their time too, taking the time to talk to youth teams around the state. Like or hate the decisions he makes as a coach, the guy is an all star human being.

  6. I'm not sure it can be overstated how good Freund is at play calling and play design. Still no sacks through three games, and it's all due to moving the line of scrimmage, getting guys open for Tommy early, and getting creative at the right times. We're finally have a modern offense with guys who can run it.

  7. Your bs gets a bit old. You wanted to get rid of Hakstol. You criticize Berry. What do you know about coaching or what it takes to become a champion? Had UND played UMass, missing those key players, I’m pretty sure the first person calling for a coaching change would have been you. Some of the people actually believe you and something called the GOBC could influence coaching decisions anymore than any of the rest of us. Sandy is an excellent coach. His players didn’t get the job done. Berry and Hakstol have proved to be excellent coaches. They and Sandy have been recognized as outstanding coa

  8. Very proud of Peter Thome for a social media post he made yesterday on the #BellLetsTalk day. It takes a lot of courage to just have the strength to tell someone that you are having issues, let alone air them out for thousands of people to see. If his post encourages even one person to sit down and discuss mental health issues they are having its done its purpose and then some. At the same time, I hope the University of North Dakota understands how lucky they are to have a fantastic human being like Mark Poolman in the athletics program.

  9. Many (not all) standout athletes, particularly DI athletes, are pampered. They live in a world quite different from us "average Joes" and always have. Good for them. They are talented in a way that most of us will never experience. We enjoy watching their talent. But because of their talent, those around them have idolized them, giving them every advantage. Their self-importance grows. There is no better representation of this privilege than when we have to hear college athletes who are wearing state-funded uniforms, practicing and playing in benefactor-funded facilities, eating chef-prepared

  10. People not happy about players kneeling during the anthem yet so many fans have zero issue shouting “home of the Sioux” instead of home of the brave which many people(non-UND fans) find disrespectful. I personally don’t care that most fans do it nor do I care about the kneeling. It is what it is. /shrug

  13. NCAAs are very much cyclical. UND is the only school to win titles in 6 decades, a remarkable model of consistency. Since our first title, the longest drought we have ever had is 17 years. UND has also won its 8 titles with 5 different coaches, so the program has shown the ability to sustain under different leadership. Other big programs Michigan Most titles (9), but majority are ancient. Program was stuck on 7 for 32 years, then returned to take 2 of 3, and is now in 23 year drought. Denver Among its 8 titles are multiple repeats, the one accomplishment UND lacks.

  17. Hi fellas, I’ve enjoyed your banter and analysis for ten plus years. The Whooping I watched today was my most enjoyable UND football game since getting liquored up back in the day at the “Best Bet” in Beaverton Oregon in tbe 90s and watching Sioux Bison games. Anyway today’s Beatdown and the beef I saw in the trenches finally pushed me over the edge to set up an ID on the forum. In closing I just hope the fellas make us proud going forward.it seems like a great group of young men and watching Otis break tackles and the D punish the offense was terrific.

  19. The problem is when it's presented via trojan horse. If someone calls me into their home to install a new furnace, their expectation is that.....I will install a new furnace for them. If instead I come into their house and spend the entire install time making political statements, should they have expected that? No. The only reason they wanted my services is for a furnace, not for political lecturing. People go to hockey games to escape, not to have political statements thrown at them.

  20. 1: Pulled the trigger a bit quick on the ol' Dumpster Fire thead eh? Probly go ahead and unseal that tomb and knock out a hundred more pages. 2: Dissapointed in the kids and moreso the program for being dragged into this virtue signalling meaninglessness. 3: After the handling of the MM situation, this stinks of weakness and overt pandering. So if we must be sensitive to the things that are offensive to others, And that is what the kneeling movement was "sold" as, then they are saying this nation is offensive to them. Well I and many many many more are offended

  21. All this outrage over anthem kneeling is another example of political correctness running amok. As long as they’re not hurting anybody, or infringing on others’ rights, who cares if someone kneels during the anthem. It’s not like doing as such is giving you people cancer. Deal with it. Or learn something from it. Anyhow, according to the article, the rest of the team will be locking arms during the anthem in support of the kneeling players and racial justice. That’s great to hear. Great for team unity.

  25. If you watched the selection show, Starman was all about players, stats, who had good special teams etc. Bucci was all about "it's going to be a great jersey game" between LSSU and UMass. I mean he literally adds nothing. Melrose knows hockey but he sounds like spends about 10 minutes before the game reading over the players names and then just slaughters them during the action. College hockey needs more guys like Starman and Ben Holden. End of rant.

  31. Over the last 4-5 years, SS.com members have raised nearly $30,000 to assist UND football with equipment (specialized knee braces, concussion caps, video equipment, etc.). We should be very proud of what we have done – I know that the FB coaches and AD greatly appreciate our efforts. While the season is a few months (or maybe a year away), it would be great if we could assist the program again this fall. As most everyone knows, we have finally moved the FB locker room and offices out of Memorial Stadium. For those who hadn’t visited Memorial in recent years, it was truly a dump and an

  32. UND used hot shooting from 3 to start and dominate defense in the 2nd half to come away with a semi-final victory over the Dons. Now UND finds themselves in new territory, in the Summit League Championship for the very first time.... they take on a very familiar foe: the defending champions from NDSU. For one team, they were expected to be here. NDSU was pointing to this season being the year they made their move in the conference. That plan got sped up when they won the Summit Tournament last year as an underdog. Now they play the role of the favorite and more than expected to see a

But I will say this, after Bubba got done visiting with us over our kitchen table, I felt very confident later on, when our son decided to go to UND, we did no have to worry about him while being on the team. I felt he was in good hands for his next phase in life. And I was Correct.
