The Sioux alums keep impressing.

Jeff Panzer was named to the AHL American All Star Team (not bad for a rookie).

Curtis Murphy was named to the AHL Canadian All Star Team.

Here's a couple of nice articles on Travis Roche and Karl Goehring.

Hey Scott_M Dixon has not played all year long, he might have been a causualty of the new GM of Boston, he actually played pretty well last season after he came back from an injury. Only think I can think of is that he is hurt again or retiring...

Goon, I found nothing about Dix on the Bruins' site, but found the inactive status on CNNSI(?) or some other sports site.  No luck when I punched his name into Google, except for some Bruins related stuff from last season.  He may very well be out of the game or in some obscure junior system.

Found Dixon Ward using www.eurohockey.net

He plays for the SC Langnau Tigers in the Swiss A League. Brian Bonin is one of his teammates. I couldn't find a web page that wasn't in French or German, so I'm not posting any links.

Scratch that, I found one

I removed this long link. See my post below. :) GDM, moderator.

Check out his largest desire...

Coach the Gophs. You've got to be kidding.

Actually, he wants to be a trainer. I wonder how he is going to become a trainer since he is a journalism student. The Google.com translator for some reason changed "trainer" to coach. Pretty funny, though.

GDM, thanks. I posted the long link since it used the translator, figuring I would save some time for people. I didn't screw anything up, did I? (as far as the bbs goes, I mean)

Dixon Ward as the Gopher trainer?

He'd either run them into the ground and leave them for dead:

"Whaddaya mean you can't benchpress that Buick off your chest? PUSH! It'll be a Cadillac next time!" ;)

or it'd be:

Hey boys, lots and lots of beer and chips are good for you! And don't forget the nachos. :)

A little note about Wes Dorey from the Colorado Springs paper:

WCHL ALL-ROOKIE TEAM: Garrow and two Idaho Steelheads - goaltender Jason Cugnet and forward Wes Dorey - were unanimous selections to the WCHL all-rookie team.

Cugnet, who played at Colorado College, has a 2.47 goals-against average and a 10-4-2 won-loss record in his first season. Cugnet's .909 save percentage is second best among WCHL goaltenders.

I was going to work on this a little more but since this topic has come to the top again I'll post what I have so far.  I have not included the NHL guys at this time.

Here are former Sioux players in the minors and overseas that I was able to find.  I used a couple of "former Sioux in the pros" lists so hope this covers most everybody.  If there is anyone else you think of maybe I will devote some more lunch time to trying to track them down.

These teams are their 2001-2002 teams.

KG's Dayton team swept its first-round playoff series in the ECHL- he was 3-0.

In the second round's first game, his team won 4-3 in 2OTs, behind Karl's 50 saves.  In the next, Dayton won 3-1, with Karl making 40 saves.

I was very happy that Andy Kollar closed out his career with a fine game in Mpls., but in case you were wondering what the Sioux really missed this year, look at Mr. Goehring's results in the playoffs.

In the first round, Karl gave up 2 goals in 3 games.  I listened to the games and Karl played very well.  It doesn't hurt that Dayton is the top defensive team in the ECHL, though.

I hope Karl can get up and stay up with the Syracuse Crunch next year.  He was up there for a while, but has spent most of his time in Dayton this season.
