UND (4-6) @ #12 Zags (8-2) 12/16 7 PM

UND falls 89-83. Closest loss to a ranked team. After getting destroyed by the Jacks, coming back and taking the #12 team to OT and staying with them is an incredible feat. Too bad we couldn’t get the win but this is a good start for a young team.

we were up 8 with about 4 minutes left.  Ran shot clock down, missed three, got offensive rebound and jacked a 3 within a few seconds and missed.

Gonzaga hit a 3 and within about 5 seconds after that changed the rhythm of the game.  up to that point we were milking clock and shooting late in shot clock.  Really undisciplined on the quick 3.

That was absolutely the turning point. Just kick the ball out and run some more clock and UND probably wins the game. Still, this game will be valuable come tourney time.

Good showing, and hopefully something that will carry momentum into Big Sky play, but we had this one if they would've played sound down the stretch.  Way too many lazy passes on the press break, it was just cringe worthy watching us try to break the press.  That quick 3 off the offensive rebound by Jones did hurt, especially when it looked like he was a few feet beyond 3 and a guy was closing on him, but we also started to have a lot of defensive lapses.  It's also kind of ironic that we have a big, tall coach who can't even find players over 6'9" to recruit.  Even if it's a 7' stiff, they still come in handy from time to time.  Avants does the best he can, but there's no way he should be our biggest guy on the court all the time.

Well... didn't see this one coming at all.

Lets hope this does become the springboard for the conference season that starts up in 12 days.  Bench is still a major concern (not a single point from the bench) and this needs to be rectified in some shape or form if this team truly wants to make some noise.

Still wish they found a way to close that one out.

Lost in all the hoopla, Geno surpassed 1000 career points in the game.  Congrats to Geno!

On to Idaho and EWU.

Can’t ask them to ball out all game and all of a sudden rely on their non existent fundamentals to close a game out.

I was definitely screaming at the TV for some discipline and fundamental concepts at that time.  Same with the nonexistent running of a set for breaking the press other than everyone try to beat it one on one.   Foolish me.
