LOL is right.  UND whines and complains.  Meanwhile, NDSU replaces injured starters with all-stars - as freshmen.

recruiting, Recruiting, RECRUITING!

I mean, it doesn't sound all that different than Cam Hunt, a RFr who has been playing pretty damn well at middle linebacker. Slated to be a back-up and he has two picks in his first two games since healing up enough to get on the field, even though he's still not 100%.

There's a huge difference between plugging and playing a handful of guys, which still gives the other starters the ability to cover up some of the deficiencies. But when you have over half of your starting roster in street clothes and 3rd stringers who were supposed to be getting a handful of snaps a game vs. playing every single down, you lose the ability to cover up some of the drop off that every single roster would have.

UND will get caught up because it is the flagship university of the state of North Dakota.

I'm sure that Michigan State feels real bad about going 8-3 in their last 11 games over "flagship" Michigan in football and is the better of the two schools in terms of men's basketball.

No matter how good Michigan State does, they will always be #2.  As soon as things get going in Ann Arbor, EAst Lansing becomes and after thought.  It was why Nick Saban left MSU.

Hey, Midwestern Hawk, it's 2017.  Find a football recruit for next year's freshman class who would even know that Nick Saban used to coach at Michigan State.

"As soon as things get going?"  The Harbaugh mystique is already wearing off thanks to losses to Michigan State and THE Ohio State University.

The "flagship" argument is irrelevant.

Will you be the flagship when SU has double the enrollment?  Take a good  look a the people in power in ND.

Neither UND or Grand Forks control there own destiny. Both places are not liked.

I'm going to contradict the last two sentences of your post.  The legislature gives us damb near twice the money or funding as su if you include the Med school and the 30 million from the student loan trust account.  Being able to tap the student loan trust fund displays how the legislature is  willing to go above and beyond for this system and that has always been and will continue to be.   Because of this there will be growth, but not to 20000 students. There is a lot of love in Bismarck for UND

The student loan trust fund was basically emptied this past session and has been used for campuses other than UND.  UND only receives significantly more money than ndsu when you don't account for the direct appropriations to ndsu's research.

If there was a magic fix-it, don't you think places like Duke, Kentucky, Arizona, and Indiana would have figured out how to make themselves football schools by now?

NDSU didn't wind up in the position they are in now by accident.  UND has been playing catch-up ever since the big "D1" announcement by Fargo U.

I also recently asked a local high school recruit whom NDSU has been scoping out if he's considered the University of North Dakota at all.  His response?  "WHO?"

Every other football program in the FCS other than JMU has been playing catch up for the past 6 years now too.

Not a single recruit has chosen MSU over Michigan since Harbaugh arrived.   MSU struggled recruiting against Michigan even when Brady Hoke was coaching.

MSU and UM shop at different grocery stores. UM isn't going to party like it's 1997 again by winning recruiting battles against MSU.

So, on one side of the coin, Michigan State will ALWAYS be second-fiddle to Michigan...

...but on the other side, North Dakota can flip the script on NDSU?

Yes.  It happened in the 90's and was the case until NDSU went D1.   RT dropped the ball on that, if UND goes D1 at the same time, everything is different right now.

Have to feel for the players that are not only injured but the ones playing giving their all. It can't be easy to deal with.   As much as we (fans) hate losing, imagine their frustration.

If they are the young guys who are playing and are frustrated, that may be the best news for this team and going forward. They took their poundings this year and hopefully get revenge next year and the year after and after.

Strange. I brought up the fact that UND was funded more heavily than NDSU and was told that wasnt true.

How was the QB protection on Saturday?   I'm hoping it's good enough that we don't get Zimmerman injured.    The way things have been going this season that has to be next on the list of probabilities.

Unless the coaches decide not to start him again - While it started out as just having an injury plagued year, coaching weaknesses are now being exposed.  How many coaches around the league could do a better job with the starters we have on offense than we do?  Getting fed up with Bubba's stubbornness and poor judgement.

Don't read this article then.

Some quotes:

"We're going to see how (Studsrud) comes along this week," Schweigert said. "We took a look at Brad and Andrew's performances and evaluated that. We'll give them both reps this week and make a decision later in the week."

"We thought both got better as the game went on," Schweigert said. "They both have a different skill set.

Bubba is losing me, if Studs can't go him even considering starting Heidelbaugh is one of the craziest things I've ever heard. Did he not watch the first half last week??
