Things to do in GF

It was an all age show.

Yep, sure was.  Just clarifying for Sicatoka that the fence wasn't put up due to it being a beer garden.  I think the fence was probably up to allow flow of traffic on the sidewalks.  Although I'm not sure it helped too much in that regard.

Regardless of whether it allows underage attendees, I think an outdoor area serving alcohol needs to be separated from the outdoor area where public consumption is still illegal.

Concert was a great idea but the space was insufficient for the turnout.  IMO would have been better to wait a few weeks until students are gone (when downtown needs the draw) or else have in a bigger space somehow (maybe as one poster suggested at more of an intersection so crowds could expand three ways instead of being tightly funneled down 1 street.

The setup on the greenway last summer was very cool.  Grand Forks needs to do as much as it can to take advantage of that space.

"Hey bars (people that helped pay for the event) , would you mind moving the time of your concert til some of your best paying customers are out of town and less people will be there?"

"Maybe have it on a Tuesday at 3pm? Thanks."

Hey bars, you already are guaranteed a good crowd of students on reading and review day/springfest weekend.......maybe we could do something in the summer when your traffic is lower and you could use the spike in business during a traditionally slower time.  Because by most accounts, getting a beer was mission impossible since you placed a band geared towards 30+ year olds.....in an area full of a bunch of college kids (whom for the most part aren't into that genre).  BTW the best paying customers aren't college kids that will go wherever the Busch Light taps and fruity shots are the cheapest.  Places like Brick and Barley, Rhombus, and Half Brothers would have made a killing selling their craft beers if their target market (same target market that digs 80's hair rock) could have gotten to them at a more open venue.  Hugos was a sponsor too btw.

Not knocking the concert idea at all, just saying there is definitely room for improvement next time.  Thanks.

The Greenway Takeover Festival has announced their headliners.  Hopefully there's more interest in it this year than there was last year, although the weather may have had something to do with it.  The weather can be pretty iffy for outdoor events in September around here.

So under things to do in GF one of them is get mauled by a bear?

A few years earlier, and the nickname conversation might have taken a completely different path.
