People were still able to get 4 tickets a couple hours after the final round of the presale started, though it was pretty much sold out except for singles shortly after that. Again, what happens when there are 10-11,000 at the arena? UND loses money. Yes it easily justifies the costs. UND doesn't lose money on 10,000 people in the arena. at $100 that a $1,000,000. You can make an argument about the costs associated w/ each arena, but the MSG argument is really, really dumb, if you think that number would translate to Vegas. So we're already $150,000 short of the million you suggested. A school never gets 100% of the ticket price. In addition to having to rent the arena (way more than $100,000), Orleans also gets a cut of tickets. What other math are you missing? That money goes away fast. They could use more Champions Club support so don't make that argument. $135 for the season and you would have received $20 off each ticket in presale...thus only being "out" $95....but then again you wouldn't be "out" if you're making the school some money. I estimated there were 12,000. 9000+ were green. I think they realized after that, Vegas should have been a larger venue. But you are right, they had never done an event like New York or Vegas,so there was a lot of risk involved. If New York hadn't been such a success I don't think there would have been this kind of demand for Vegas. No one who was in New York wants to miss Vegas. Had no desire to see NYC: expensive, overcrowded, and the main thing to do is stare at tall buildings. And by the looks of my friends trying to buy Vegas tickets but not NYC, they agreed. The Ralph didn't even sell out last weekend. I get that Vegas is a destination trip but let's look at some facts: MSG was half-full this year, a year after winning a national championship UND hasn't sold out games as consistently in the past, they're only playing one game so you have to assume fewer people are going to make that trip for just the single game. In hindsight you can believe that UND would sell out an NHL arena (although I don't believe they would for this game), but the costs go up even with more people in the stands.
