Why is it the Florida State Seminoles are allowed to use their nickname while the Sioux are ordered to change theirs? The other Sioux tribe in ND, Standing Rock, opposed the name, although they supposedly sanctioned it with a peace pipe in 1968. Now, new leadership at Standing Rock wants to reinstate the name. But the NCAA won't listen to them now. Other tribes in the state, Chippewa and Mandan, Hidatsa, and Orikawa, all oppose, and are often the loudest voices. I heard Standing Rock majority, but the chairman has the final say and has yet to approve or deny, he just been mute.
