NDSU to move to FBS with an invite from the Sun Belch?

They have said they would like to make it a frequent stop. They love the atmosphere and fan enthusiasm. Who on this forum thought they would come back a second year in a row? They have been in Fargo more than 95% of FBS schools. More than 80% of BCS conference schools. 100% more than any Big Sky schools, whether they are FCS like now or FBS in the future like SV is guaranteeing.

If the NDSU win/championship streak is intact, do they come back 9/19/15?  I think it would be the craziest scene yet and would be a distinct possibility.

Between NDSU's accomplishments on the field and the rivalry, would be plenty of back stories to keep viewers interested on a national level, IMO.

Bison fans would be pissed if ESPN gave UND any mention or worse yet a story. Because Gameday only exists because of NDSU.

Northern Illinois is planning a expand their football stadium to 42,000 seats and build new baseball, basketball, tennis facilities.

The Big 12 is their likely target, as all those facilities would be needed.   With the proximity to Chicago, NIU would probably receive consideration from the Big 12 or maybe the American.  NIU and Cincinnati could help bridge the gap between WVU and Iowa State for the Big12.  NIU does not have a strong academic or research side, so they'd have to improve that to get Texas or Kansas approval.   They'd also probably have to go more than 50,000 seats for football.

There goes NDSU's slot in the Big12, which is the bison's next landing spot according to bizonville conventional wisdom.  :whistling:

Delaware State, Incarnate Word and UND.  ESPN has shown the trend to be in Fargo for the game with our weakest opponent, so you guys stand a good chance.  (sorry, had to get that one in there) :)

Has Bisonville deleted the "Sh*t on UND" thread that had run for 6000 some replies?  Even the SDSU thread also seems to have been deleted?  Could it be that the new Bizon AD doesn't like the crap bizonville spews, and he had someone inform Tony that it wasn't welcome?  Tony, who is a lapdog of the NDSU admin, would naturally comply.  The UND thread doesn't seem to appear anymore.  Wonder if the new NDSU AD wants to make peace with UND and the Big Sky?

You have to be a member to view them. I thought the same thing when it disappeared. Oh well they can keep that !@#$ to themselves. It makes them warm and fuzzy inside.

Geez get over yourself - one of the major reasons FU was chosen was because there was no compelling game among the big boys - that was stated in the press. The game was barely talked about. If it was a UND/FU game there would be plenty more compelling stories but in the big picture it's just a backdrop and a small town circus with major behind the scenes ass kissing makes for great TV.

What about the opening it would create in the MAC?  I'm sure NDSU would love to get a MAC invitation.

N Ill has likely been blocking Illinois St if the MAC wants to get back into Illinois.  James Madison, Delaware, and Stony Brook are awfully enticing east coast school, so the MAC would go that direction instead of out in the plains.

N Illinois and Cincinnati would provide a Midwest option to bridge the Iowa St and WVU gap with media markets.  It might make more sense then UConn and UCF geographically.

NDSU could win four, five, or six FCS championships in a row, but it won't change the conferences interested in them:   Big Sky.  If the Sun Belt can convince James Madison to join, it would have absolutely no interest in NDSU.

Easy there Captain Obvious. We in Bison Nation realize why GameDay was there. If we are a small town circus with major ass kissing, what does that make your program? Incarnate Word won yesterday. You got curb stomped. Right now a IC/UND match up would be a good game. I am patiently waiting for the UND football program to be a Big Sky contender. When is that going to happen?

Glad you're concerned enough about our program that you need to come here constantly and check in. Hey Captain Obvious Jr. we know our program is down we also know where our program has been and have faith it will return to and when it does you can bet there won't be a multitude of our fans frequenting FU Central. With everything that you have to talk about at Bison - Swille you still find the need to come here?

The 18,700-seat Fargodome is a large brick building with a roof. Estimates for raising the roof and adding 10,000 seats run in the $75-$100 million range. It is a city-owned facility, so any major change to the structure would be a political minefield.

Could NDSU build its own 30,000-seat facility on campus? Anything is possible, if you can find the money to do it. But we need look no further than Mountain West member Colorado State to find out building a new football stadium at a mid-range university isn't easy.

NDSU should have those options ready to go as soon as possible. Once the basketball arena is completed and once the Power 5 leagues do their thing, the Bison athletic bosses will be faced with another decision.

Do they stay in whatever remains of FCS (from which football powers Georgia Southern and Appalachian State have already bailed) or do they move up and try to stay whatever the second level of Division I football is? All indications are NDSU wants to always be in whatever the second level of D-I is.

That means the Mountain West or the Mid-American or an FBS version of the Missouri Valley Football Conference. Figuring a new football stadium and finding the money to build it is likely a 10-year process it should have multiple plans in place to do so.

NDSU is right to move up to the second level of Division I, whatever that entails. The new AD Larsen should get cracking on it now.

Would the city of Fargo vote for a new stadium? With taxes being high, flooding still an issue, this could be a dream unless the state pumps in money (oil) to pay for it.

The game wasnt the story. NDSU was the story. Thats all they pretty much talked about. A one week infomercial about Fargo and NDSU.

"We are going to Fargo to pay homage" were there exact words. I know it hurts but you can try to down play the event all you want. It just makes you look foolish.

Its cheaper to tear in down and start over. Problem is---where do you play for the two years you build the new one unless you build someplace else. Then you have the issues of funding. I just dont see the people of Fargo going for more taxes.

That is the key statement.  NDSU's hopes for a new stadium lays with their alumni and/or the state.
