Would there be a major realignment again? What about during that time Florida heads to QC and Arizona goes to Portland? Move Arizona to the Central Division and add Las Vegas and Seattle to the Pacific. You'd then have 16 teams in each conference and 8 teams in each division. A second Toronto team could play in the West, so Toronto would often have doubleheader nights on TV. I was thinking about moving Calgary to the Central to put LV in the Pacific, but they'd want to keep Calgary and Edmonton in the same conference - so moving both might work. Ted Turner only insisted the arena be in downtown so he could walk from his penthouse condo. If an NBA/NHL arena had been built in suburban Cobb/ Gwinnett, the Thrashers would likely still be there. Small towns have a history of hosting the Winter Games. Bozeman can be just as capable as Squaw Valley, Lake Placid, Lillehammer, or the tiny S Korean town upcoming. The NHL requires a massive nearby population to seĺlout games for seven months, nevermind a big local corporate presence. Each submitted application costs $10 mil. Las Vegas, Quebec City, and Toronto/Hamilton/South Ontario will have bids submitted too. Only Vegas and Quebec have arenas being built.
