Popular Post Goon Posted June 25, 2013 Popular Post Share Posted June 25, 2013 (edited) It seems like the Moderation team is really asleep at the switch lately, Watchmaker49 a semi-decent poster who might have skirted the line once or twice, but who doesn't, gets nuked (banned); however, trolls like Jheria and CharliePic who are here for nothing but personal attacks and to cause problems, don’t get nuked… How is that possible? There seems to be a double standard is emerging on Sioux Sports. Watchmaker was a tool in the same mold as the AC trolls you listed. The only difference was that Watchmaker got off on trolling his fellow UND fans. He liked to side with the minority opinion whether he shared that opinion in his heart of hearts or not. Case in point, when most of the board was for keeping the nickname, he changed his stance and posed as an anti-nicknamer so he could stir the pot. Then when the tide started to shift and more and more people started voicing support for retiring the nickname, he called them traitors, flip floppers, unprincipled, etc. He would go tooth and nail (personal stuff) against DaveK and Chewey over their strong support for keeping the nickname at all costs, and then, when it became clear that their opinions were in the minority and it became too boring to continue his assault on them, he immediately changed his tune and defended them to the hilt against the very same "traitors," "flip floppers" and "unprincipled" hord he once aligned with. So, in essence, he was making a mockery of the board. He wasn't here to share opinions or add perspective; he was here to slash and burn for the sick fun and enjoyment that he got out of being an anonymous a-hole. That was all fine and good and would not have been enough to warrant banning, IMHO -- until recently, when it appeared that his rhetoric was escalating to threats of physical violence against other board members through their PMs and such. As far as the physical violence, that's not good. True, but I also said that behavior, though, unfortunate, is not enough to revoke your participation on this board. My exact sentence is below: "That was all fine and good and would not have been enough to warrant banning, IMHO." It's the threats that popped up recently that crossed the line. On the rare occasion someone does get banned, its for repeatedly violating one of these rules: Forum terms and rules Threats and harassment, and politics and religion are pretty straightforward to interpret. Trolling is a little more subjective -- in a discussion about the likelihood of UND getting a Big Ten invite, I don't think a Bison fan shooting it down saying he thinks it's unrealistic is trolling. I think that's debate. On the other hand, a Bison fan spamming every thread about UND football with how much he thinks UND sucks is clearly just trolling. There's a lot of space in between those two that requires subjective interpretation. Can it get any more personal than that? I just find it humorous that you like to take shots at the education people from "Moo U" (one of your favorites) get and then you turn around and write something that grammatically might have prevented you from passing seventh grade. Pot/Kettle??? May i say that your very knowledgeable about the topics you discuss which is why I occasionally read them. Thanks for starting a thread calling for me to get nuked (is asking for me to get nuked a personal threat??) as I now feel all warm, fuzzy and appreciated. When was the last time a bison fan came onto this site and complimented UND? I don't know about you, but I never go to message boards of schools I have no affiliation with, let alone go there and be a Debbie Downer. It would be great to have a place to talk about UND with others who appreciate the university without seeing them. Then you haven't read everything I've posted on here as I am a past holder of season tickets to fine hockey team that UND has. I think you miss the point too. Many of the comments/threads on this site are dedicated to things about a certain college that must have no relevance to their athletics or institution other than to make them feel better about themselves and their views. Please explain to me how this is only a place to talk about UND with others who only appreciate the the University. If that was the case there wouldn't be entire threads devoted to schools that as you say have no relevance to their institution. I have a co worker that lives in GF and is an avid UND supporter who giggles at the banter I have on here with certain individuals that will never be able to take off the Kelly Green glasses.
