NMSU's Boston on multiple conferences

Boston Reflects on NMSU athletics in two conferences.

It's a situation Boston has been in before. While Boston was at Rhode Island University, the school participated in the Atlantic 10 in all sports and the former Yankee Conference at the time in football.

"Recognizing the challenge of two different conference from a management standpoint has some natural issues but I think we can be competitive in both, but it's also a university branding issue, management around two code books and managing officials from two conferences," Boston said. "There is a level of familiarity but at the same time, the most healthy situation would be for all of us to be in the same conference."

The lack of initiative by NDSU and SDSU on starting Summit football is striking. NDSU and SDSU are the top teams now in the MVFC, so all their conference glory goes there, yet there is no respect returned by the MVC. The MVC will never invite those two, yet both NDSU and SDSU continue to be delusional about how great alignment is with the MVFC. The Summit could have had UND if they had also offered Grand Valley St and Wayne St and gone with football. The Summit also wouldn't have had issues with baseball threatening its status if it had football. Maybe Oakland was probably blocking Wayne St, in spite of being blocked by Detroit from the Horizon, but Oakland can't stop Summit football now. Imagine how much better the Summit's standing would be in the midwest northern tier? Summit football would be > MVFC football easily.

For all the bragging that NDSU fans do about the MVFC, the idea of making that a permanent football home when the MVC won't touch them otherwise is just whoring themselves out. Build your own conference brand, don't build up someone else's.

Being involved in a football conference with solid programs like UNI, SIU, IL State, MO State, and IN State is great, regardless if the conference is called Summit or Valley football. The teams make it great, not the name. Pushing for the Summit name is stupid if it creates problems and urges the Valley schools to consider moving on. Have you really even thought about what you are saying? It doesn't appear so.

Being in the Summit/MVFC is not a problem. Being in the Summit for all sports, including football, is a problem is the Valley schools aren't in it. If you feel that being in a single conference is significantly better than being in a separate conference for a single sport, then maybe you should be pushing for Big Sky the Hockies. In the meantime you are spending an extra million a year in travel and playing in 3 time zones to have all your sports in a single conference.

Every point went way over your head. No surprise.

no, it really didn't. Your points just weren't very good. None of that matters and noone cares, and both NDSU and SDSU treat it accordingly.

Translation: it bothers the hell out of you, otherwise you wouldn't troll on this topic.

NDSU and SDSU won't ever get a courtesy look from the MVC, even though they now dominate the MVFC. Yeah, that's a real f***ed up partnership unless you're exceptionally good at deluding yourself.

The Summit could very well be going down the sh*tter, not even the thought of a liferaft from "partners" in the MVC, and you pretend you don't care. But then again .... buttfootball
