UND men currently in last place after Day 1 of the MPSF conference championship.

MPSF

Probably not too surprisingly when considering the competition and the geography of most of the competition.

It is interesting to note that there are only three schools who have teams in both the Men and Women competition.

Change has arrived... Maiello named head swimming and diving coach

Maiello comes to UND after spending the last five seasons as the assistant men’s swimming coach and recruiting coordinator at the United States Naval Academy. His list of accomplishments include helping lead the Midshipmen to a 61-11 record with 11 individual and seven relay conference champions. In his tenure at Navy, Maiello mentored 29 swimmers with all-time top ten performances at the academy with five of his athletes swimming at the 2012 Olympics Trials meet. He was also the head swimming coach for the Navy USA swimming team and the U.S. National Military team, where he's trained and coached athletes at the 2010 World Military Swimming Championships in Warendorf, Germany and the 2011 World Military Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

North Dakota Hires Chris Maiello from Navy as New Head Coach

The school does have a solid diving program upon which they can build for the future.

Both programs will compete in the WAC next year, as the conference has re-added men’s swimming.

Maiello has a history of recruiting big classes everywhere he’s been, however, which could be crucial to turning the program around in a hurry.

I liked one of the comments...

Great hire! Chris is one of the best
Hoping that turns out to be true.

Didn't UND use to have a top swimming team? What happened to it?

We were good as a DII school which doesn't always translate to being good at the DI level. We also used to have a pipeline to swimmers out of Brazil with Stromberg and Sampeio (Sp?) as a coach.

Looks like the swimming team is on its way up. Losing to USD and SDSU last year was unacceptable.

March 2017 budget cuts Men's and Women's swimming and diving cut.

Fall 207 the 22 Million Hulbert Aquatic Facility opens West Fargo.

They sure can raise the private $ in Cass.

"The Hulbert Aquatic Center, the $20.2 million pool facility added on to L.E. Berger Elementary, 620 7th Ave. E. in West Fargo, was built by the school district as part of the $98.1 million bond passed by voters in 2015."

Thanks maybe more than 3 nobody will ever know.

If it was a stand alone vote, not tied to new schools which were/still are needed in WF it would not have passed.

Also, their goal was $4 million and if they hit $3 million it was by the skin of their teeth.

J  Heitkamp says it is a Ralph Engelstad type of facility.  Dentists say bad teeth can kill a person.

So, moser, what are you doing to make something like that happen in Grand Forks County?
You starting a business that'll add jobs and families and revenues?
You raising funds with a vision of a place like that?
Or you just grousing?

You don't have to answer. The question is rhetorical.

If there's another sports facility in the world with granite floors, brass accents/moldings, and padded leather seats with cherry wood armrests, I'd like to hear about it.

Slow growth in GF County. If UND grads want to help UND instead of giving all their $ to UND how about starting business in GF. I'm talking big ideas a lot of jobs. Invest $ to 'make $.
