Embedding YouTube Videos - how do you?

Did you find an extensive playlist from Richard Marx as well? :)

Well, I didn't want to bring it up, but #2 on the Mafia iPod was this:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S_E2EHVxNAE

And Mafia:

I did this from Microsoft Internet Explorer 11.0.9600.17633 on a Win7 box.

I've also gotten Safari (on an iPad) and Chrome (on a Win7 box) to work in the last 24 hours.

You must just be terrible at the interwebs. :D

In all seriousness, development on this version of this forum software has stopped as the vendor focuses on rolling out a new version. The bad pattern match on http but not https is a great example (which I might be able to fix myself, and will give it a shot).

I'll decide this summer whether to move to their new version or change course.

Now, what I found in doing that:

I had to use YouTube XML tags manually. Remember, here it's [ youtube ] and [ /youtube ] but without the extra spaces.

Make sure you have a WWW link and not a mobile "m.youtube.com" link if you're coming off a portable device.

And yes, make sure it's http:// not https://

I've never used the YouTube tags. Just paste the link, then edited out the "s".

I'm finding browser/OS differences also.

As mentioned earlier in this thread, some OS's apparently expand the text of links into hyperlinks when they're pasted (e.g. some versions of IE). Not much we can do about that other than hope that newer versions of the forum software recognize the browser and fix up the pasted link accordingly.

I'm definitely not going to try to change anything before the Frozen Four, but maybe this summer.

This issue is cropping up for me again.  I went to YouTube and copied the link to what I wanted to share.  Then came here and hit the "Paste as Plain Text" icon and it pastes my link, however it doesn't show the video.  Just has the link:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3QGWlB1qt0I

Bump...

Sorry to keep brining this up, but this still does not work for me.  I've tried the Paste as Plain Text and also using the [ youtube ] and [ /youtube ] tags (without the spaces) and cannot get the youtube video to embed.  I just get the link to show.

Thanks.
