Maybe, you have to see it live, but the outdoor games have lost any small novelty appeal they had for me. It's never as bright as inside and you can't see the crowd on t.v., plus the variable ice conditions and weather.  I will be jacked for the Sioux/UNO outdoor game, though.  :D
Totally agree.

Agree here as well.  The ice conditions will be fair to partly crappy based on average high temp at that time of year...not thrilled to watch the Sioux skate in concrete...not trying to be a downer, just realistic...

Miami lost a NTDP recruit to the OHL. Ryan Hartman will join the Plymouth Whalers next season

That's 7 NTDPers who have broken college commitments to go CHL in the last 10 months.

I know of at least one other U18er considering doing it too. Gotta ask what's going on in Ann Arbor.

The thing is, these kids will be playing in the CHL but when it comes time for the U-18, U-20, World Championships and Olympics, these kids will be wearing Red, White and Blue.  So if our neighbors to the north want to use time and resources to help develop players for Team USA, that is just fine with me. :)

Hearing Tyler Biggs leaving Miami (OH) U. Options next season would include NHL (Leafs), AHL (Marlies), OHL (Oshawa).

Apparently Biggs was unahppy with his role/ice time at Miami. He had 17 points in 37 games.

Whatever happened to working his butt off this offseason so he can get a larger role/more ice time next year?  I'm not familiar with his situation, but he is a 1st round pick, I'm sure he was given every opportunity to begin with, its his own fault he didn't take advantage of it.

At least he showed up to his college commitment. Unlike his teammate JT Miller.

It's all the same to me though...

It's all quitting to me. Maybe some think I'm off base here, and that's fine.

It's cowardice. Put a chip on your shoulder and improve and be the best player on the team the next year. Taking the easy way out is becoming too common with football and hockey players and it's pathetic.

Yeah to me how can the CHL spout how great they are, yet a bunch of their players are guys that couldn't cut it in college hockey or wanted to put up better numbers.

It is possible that the Leafs pressured him to go CHL as well.  His numbers were not bad for an 18 year old freshman.  He also might not like school or the coach or the system.  Put it all together and you really only have three choices- transfer schools and sit out a year (no way, not for a first rounder), stick it out at Miami (no fun if you are truly miserable, and if you are miserable, you aren't going to develop), or lastly, go to the CHL.

We don't know the kids circumstances, and he is likely only telling part of the story so as not to burn bridges or cause issues or embarrass himself or others...I mean, he might be in a world of hurt academically too...all conjecture.

Burke is a supporter of college hockey so i don't think the Leafs had anything to do with it.

I don't like it when they leave college but I don't consider it quite as bad as some here seem to. He finished out the season with his team and did his best. He doesn't owe them more than that once the season concludes.

Seems like a number of kids bail out on Miami. You have to wonder if they are going to take a step back after the NCHC forms.

I don't blame him either. It's not any diffent than David Toews or Feinhage. Both were fairly high draft picks and knew that their ice tim was going to be limited going forward. Cichy, Breaunateau (sp), Hill to name a few more.

The only complaint I have is people using commitments for bargaining leverage.

Once they do come I think forwards should stay for at least two years and d for 3 but that is purely for developmental reasons. I personally think there aren't a lot of players ready for the jump directly to the NHL before then. Of course I would like everyone to stay all four years, but if they are really ready before then, more power to them.

Dumb question here for the trivia experts here.  Who have been some of the players that everyone would recognize that played for the NTDP?  I don't know that is why I am asking.

I may have missed it, but I didn't see it on here. At the ACHA meetings last week coaches were heavily in favor of switching to face shields. If the the NCAA agrees it could take place this upcoming season.
