The full schedule has now been released. Looks like a pretty solid schedule. The NDSU game on September 6th should be fun. SDSU and Montana at home are nice games as well. Nice to see the ladies will have a chance to win their 3rd consecutive GWC tourney title at home as the Betty is hosting the tournament this year.

Gotta love coach Ashley Hardee.....................

Tonight on the coach's show, when asked what type of volleyball program the University of Montana has, he said "they're usually a top 4 Big Sky program..................next year they will be top 6". :);)

Then he pointed out that he feels that Northern Colorado will be a program that challenges "us" for Big Sky championships....................

The guy is an awesome character and has a refreshing attitude.................................

Totally agree on Hardee. By far, he has done the best job of any coach in transition. Hopefully we sign him for a long-term contract and win many conference banners!

In last week's tournament, Dayton was the #19 rated team in the country. Sioux lost 3-1, which is actually pretty impressive for a team at that level.

The other loss was to James Madison in five sets with the last set going to 24 points instead of 15. The Dukes are a top 100 team.

James Madison, UND, NDSU, and N Colo were all rated about the same last year.

If the Sioux are better this year than last, the Sioux should sweep this weekend.

The two major matches that will really tell how good this team is come up next week:

Tues, vs NDSU

Fri, vs UC Santa Barbara

After those two matches, the Sioux should be major favorites over all the other teams they face.

To expand on that, I thought it was cool last night when they interviewed Hardee on the Jumbotron at the FB game and he said "you better get your tickets because we're the hottest ticket in town and that's for sure".

Hardee and Idalski are by far and away the two best sources for soundbites from any of the North Dakota head coaches..................

I heard on Bisonville that this one is going to be on Directv 617. Should be some outstanding volleyball to watch! Beer will be served in a frosty mug while watching from the man cave here in WYO!

It's part of UND's Fox College Sports contract for 2011-2012....

Friday's game against UC Santa Barbara will be the second most difficult match on the schedule (the Sioux were competitive in a loss to Dayton, which remains a rated top 25 team). If the Sioux beat the Gauchos (vs an RPI #63 team on a neutral court), the Sioux should actually be favorites (and mostly heavy favorites) for the rest of the schedule.

Hardee himself has said that this team has improved over last year - when UND and NDSU were rated about equal by the NCAA's RPI. A top 50 rating isn't out of the question if they run the rest of the schedule. What hurts will be playing very weak RPI schools in the Great West (all but UVU are well below 200 in ratings).

According to "live stats" on the FightingSioux.com, UND VB ladies just took down UC Santa Barbara in three straight (25-12, 25-12, 25-21)! :D:D:D Last year, UCSB was ranked 63rd in the country... while the Sioux were something like 89th, two ranks behind NDSU. I have not seen any real recent ranking. Another big win for Fighting Sioux VB in the Golden State! This team is something special! We still play San Jose State and Santa Clara before the tourney concludes. Those teams were ranked behind the Sioux last year, according to NCAA.com.

Big win for the Sioux. Hopefully we can get the following for VB to continue and be part of the VB success. UND should have the band there for home games if they haven't and try and build on what they had at the NDSU game.

Parent of UND Freshman spoke with me yesterday and said their son went to VB game and it was a blast! Also went to first FB game and said the students who went also had a great time. Good sign. The rest of the student popualtion needs to get on board and make these student events. Doesn't matter so much who they play each weekend as long as it becomes the place to be for students.

The Santa Barbara website shows UND losing all 3 games. Somebody must be wrong on this.

The live stats against San Jose State show that UND swept SJSU in their 2nd match of the day with scores of (25-19, 25-22, 25-21). Nice way to rebound off of a loss.
