Wonder if midcontinent and any other cable co's (NccRay out here in NW ND) will drop the FSSN station, since they already offer the FCS regionals in their digital tv packages (NCCRay has the three FCS stations as part of the basic digital package, no add-on necessary).

highly unlikely as there are lots of folks who either dont have digital or wont upgrade. Now if you live in a market where you need a box on every TV (ala satellite) then maybe

I'm not familiar with the FCS channel.  Does this mean that Sioux hockey will be broadcast live?  Or will it be shown when there's an opening in the schedule?  I suspect there might be quite a few other events being shown and I wonder where Sioux hockey fits into the priority?

Certanily live, plus several more replays of the live telecast.

Saved again by the FTA system, not to mention the first generation feed on a FTA system is simply better quality than the cable feed.

Does this mean FSSN finally is going to have the ability to show how much time is left on a powerplay?  :D Overall this is a good thing, I will finally be able to watch all of the home games, just need to find a sports bar that carries FCS.

I have to agree.  I've had my FTA on split screen with the same feed through dishnetwork and the FTA is so much easier to watch.  (got my system from Pete several years ago.)

There is no question about that.  I record all home games onto a DVD via my FTA system.  Additoinally, I Tivo the Gophs series from my direct TV as well.  Eventually, I watch them both (FTA FSSN and FOX N. direct tv) and the FTA picture is WAY nicer.  Also, there was a game or two last year that was picked up by CSTV or yes or some channel like that and the FSSN feed was significantly deteriorated when it came through my direct tv vs my Satallite feed.  So if you are a true fan and watch all of the games the FTA is still worth it.

yababy8.....I just bought my FTA system a few weeks ago and my heart sunk last night when I saw that FSSN would be on FCS.  I had been saving and planning on buying the FTA system all summer and I was crushed last night when I heard the news becasue I have digital cable.  I am trying to talk myself into keeping the FTA system, but the FCS package sounds more attractive as it is hooked up to my DVR and I wouldn't have to scan for the games prior to the start time. Plus if I'm not home for the start of the game, I can have it recorded on my DVR.  I'm still bummed.....what do you think?  Should I keep the FTA system?  I do not want to buy the extra sports package if I have the FTA system.

And by the way....Pete installed it for me and did a fantastic job.  I just haven't had the opportunity to check out the picture quality as I have it fixed for only Sioux games.  Thoughts......:D?  Anything would help as I am really bummed!!!!!!

If I were you I'd keep the FTA and lord it over us weenies that only have DirectTV.  Make yourself out to be real superior fan and all.

That's just what I'd do in your situation, but then everyone says I'm a jerk.

Your traxis has a timer in the menu setting so it will start up if you're not there. You would need a dvd burner hooked up (like yababy probably has) to record the games from the traxis (again with a timer setting on the burner).  You will, if you try both, like the quality of the feed from your FTA system better than the FCS feed on cable. BTW, you don't have to scan every weekend for games, scan just once, or enter the transponder in your tpscan menu and scan just that tp, and the station will be saved for the rest of the season (unless the FSSN changes satellites and/or transponders). You can scan in the FSSN this weekend (if you didn't already scan it in for the NE Louisianna football game) for the Sioux/SD game on Saturday. Once on the traxis, you're good to go for future games.

To be superior to the whistler's directtv only system in itself make it worth the cost for the FTA system :D
