Posted on GPL, Lucia mentioned on his radio show this week the Gophers open up their 2009/2010 WCHA season in Grand Forks.

Can anyone on SiouxSports.com confirm and post the dates of the games ?

Yes I can hardly wait.

This is what I've got:

OCT 4 vs. University of Manitoba (exhibition is Sun, right?)

OCT 9-10 vs. Merrimack

OCT 16-17 vs. Minnesota

OCT 23-24

OCT 30-31

NOV 6-7

NOV13-14 vs. St Cloud

NOV 20-21-22(?) Ohio State and Miami (Thanksgiving weekend)

NOV 27-28

DEC. 4-5 @ Duluth

DEC 11-12

DEC 19 vs. US World Junior Team

DEC 25-26

DEC/JAN @ Notre Dame (Jan 1-2?)

JAN 8-9

JAN 15-16

JAN 22-23 @ Cornell

JAN 29-30

FEB 5-6

FEB12-13 @ St Cloud

FEB 19-20 vs. Duluth

FEB 26-27

MAR 5-6 (last weekend?)

MAR 12-13

We still need: Mankato, Wisconsin, Michigan Tech, Denver, Colorado College, Alaska, another series with Minnesota.

Does anyone know how many games we play against each WCHA opponent? Why do we only play one series with?

I assume you mean "who" do we only play one series with, not why.

For 2009-10, here is the breakdown:

Home and Away:

Denver

Michigan Tech

Minnesota

Minnesota-Duluth

St. Cloud State

Home only:

MSU-Mankato

Wisconsin

Away only:

Alaska-Anchorage

Colorado College

I'm kind of hoping UND gets off to a slow start next year like they have the last few years. Just as long as it's not as embarassing as it was this past January.

Couldn't agree more!

It might not AS embarassing...we might only win 5-1 or something...

GOPHER SWEEP :D

From what I've been able to piece together...

October 4th - vs Manitoba (Exhibition)

October 9th and 10th - vs Merrimack (Raise WCHA Title Banner)

October 16th and 17th - vs Minnesota

October 23rd and 24th - vs Wisconsin (unconfirmed)

October 30th and 31st -

November 6th and 7th -

November 13th and 14th - vs St. Cloud

November 20th and 21st -

November 27th and 28th - Thanksgiving showcase (UND, Miami, OSU and Bemidji)

December 4th and 5th - @Minnesota-Duluth

December 11th and 12th -

December 19th - vs U.S. World Junior Team (Exhibition)

January 1st and 2nd - Notre Dame Tournament (not sure on exact dates)

January 8th and 9th -

January 15th and 16th - @ Minnesota

January 22nd and 23rd - @ Cornell

January 29th and 30th -

February 5th and 6th -

February 12th and 13th - @ St. Cloud

February 19th and 20th - vs Minnesota-Duluth

February 26th and 27th -

March 5th and 6th -

March 12th-14th - WCHA First Round (Best of 3 at Higher seed site)

March 18th-20th - WCHA Final Five (@ XCEL Energy Center in St. Paul)

March 26th-28th - NCAA Regionals

April 8th - NCAA Frozen Four Semifinal (@Ford Field in Detroit)

April 10th - NCAA Frozen Four Championship (@Ford Field in Detroit)

We still have the following games...

Home Series: DU, Mankato, Tech

Away Series: DU, CC, UAA, Tech

That means that of the 9 open weekends, two will be truly open. Also, it seems virtually certain we'll be ending the regular season against Michigan Tech, unless the WCHA decides against having DU and CC play the final weekend (it has only happened once in the last half dozen season that those teams didn't play the final weekend against each other).

Herald said we're at CC during ND State hockey so shouldn't that be the Feb 26-27th weekend? Maybe? Also said Oct 30-31st was a bye week for sure. Had a lot of good details in the article.
