star2city Posted December 7, 2008 Share Posted December 7, 2008 UNI 69 UND 49 Hard to believe in this day and time just how dominating UND men's basketball was in the 70's, as UND's had a sixteen game winning streak against UNI before they left for DI in 1978. No surprise that the streak is over, but even getting to parity in competition with UNI would be a major accomplishment. UNI Panthers UNI and North Dakota are long-time rivals from the North Central Conference, with North Dakota holding a 48-30 edge. With the exception of World War II, the two schools met at least once per season every year from the 1935-36 season through 1977-78, which is the last year they played, as UNI began its transition to Division I at that point.
