  1. exciting game. i think it is really cool how well you guys have done in year 1. also suu making the conf tourney pretty cool since they canned their old coach a yr ago. weber state in its 32nd big sky semifinal and und in its 1st!
  2. looking forward to this one. first ever weber at und game as big sky members. first ever game between the 2 schools was this yr in ogden. weber vs your old conf... GREAT WEST Overall 7-2 South Dakota 0-0 Chicago State 0-0 Utah Valley 4-2 New Jersey Tech 0-0 Houston Baptist 0-0 North Dakota 1-0 Texas-Pan Am 2-0 we have never played NDSU.
  3. That game wasn't what I expected to see. WSU looked hot, on fire and executed. Maybe UND was fatigued from travel. Conference road wins are so hard to get for any team. I don't know enough about UND yet but I wonder if Grand Forks will become the new toughest road trip. Going to the Montanas is tough because they are always both hard to beat. The toughest road trip because of travel is Sac/NAU. The bus trip alone from the airport to NAU is 3 hours one way so UND/UNC trip should be interesting to see what happens.
  4. http://wildcats.bigskyfans.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2657 topic about the current format vs a change.
  5. Here are the big sky tourney stats but it doesn't show last yr's appearance by UNC, their first ever. They moved up from DII in July 2006. I believe only Sac St and Gonzaga never made the big dance. Northridge made it in 2001 and was in the big sky from 1996-2001. Boise & Idaho left in 1997. Nevada left in 1992. Gonzaga left in 1979.
  6. Sorry for not looking at many of the threads but what do you guys expect this yr? i did catch you have 5 fresh, a young team? when do the coaches/media poll release from the great west? are you guys excited for your great west final tour or not overly excited to go big sky next yr?
  7. looks like you have 4 games against big sky schools. the 2 at big sky schools i will try and catch on big sky tv to see your team. and make sure to sweep uvu!
  8. Hello All, Welcome to the Big Sky. I haven't heard if the Big Sky format will change. I hope it remains the same. Making it hard to get in makes it more interesting. 6 of 9 get in now which I like more than when we had 6 of 8 getting in. Do you guys liek 6-11 or think a change is in order? A neutral site doesn't work in the Big Sky as we don't have large fan bases that would travel. Vegas is the obvious site to choose. Everyone likes Vegas, not expensive to get there and its not cold. Salt Lake doesnt work. If your gonna go to SLC you might as well just have it at Weber State 40 miles away. Our arena capacity is 12,000 and has hosted the NCAA tournament 2-3 times but not since 1994. In the Big Sky playing the tourney at the regular season champ's house still is the most feasilble option. Big Sky usually is 18-24th in confernece rank so we would like to send our best team. letting them host the tourney increases that chance and is about all the Big Sky can do to help the champion make it. The hosting team usually can manage to get a 12-14 seed, if we have another team get in its even lower seed. Though there is no guarantees with seeding and we have seen regular season champs get in as a 15 or 16. Another issue is venue size of hosting school. The Big Sky requires I believe 4-5,000 but maybe its 3,000 since UNC hosted last yr on their home court and their place holds 3,000. So this must mean only PSU and Sac can't host at home. One change the Sky made I really like is the quarterfinal/first rd being held at campus sites and not at the hosting schools. This gives the higher seeds soemthing to look forward to as well attendance is never any good when the quarters are at the hosting school. This change took place in 2003 I believe. 6 @ 3 5 @ 4 1 and 2 sit out then low vs 1 and high vs 2 semis are on altitude which i dont think is available in north dakota, hopefully that can change. championship on espn2
