  1. Maybe there should be some sort of emotional support group (karma included) so visiting hockey players can get over the trama of being taunted at the Ralph. Oh wait they have coaches to help them.
  2. Nice Artice on Ryan Johnson now with the Canucks. http://canucks.nhl.com/team/app/?service=p...rticleid=422335 That blocked shot was a beauty. There has got to be an easier way to make a living.
  3. Here is a reprint of an older article in the Los Angeles Times related to the nickname issue. http://articles.latimes.com/2002/jul/07/ma...e/tm-nicknames7
  4. They do seem to work best. How about music to go along with a player's nickname or reputation or related to what is happening on the ice. Maybe the players should be consulted. How about "Crazy Train" Hextall? or Maybe we shouldn't encourage such behavior? Or maybe some good ol beer drinking anthems during pre-game and between periods to get folks in the mood for concession sales. Don't suppose the "Garden Hose" song would be appropriate except for the men's rooms. Maybe some ridiculously stupid but upbeat polka music and video from some old Lawrence Welk show.
  5. Not a good start to a singing career. Good thing he let Kane take the lead.
  6. Minnesota Duluth gets a break because they don't have to play the Sioux in the second half of the season. Why 4 games against UAA why not just 2? Yeah I know they are a WCHA team but just wish we could play someone else now and then. Seems that so many teams would be better competetion for the Sioux. Such as Notre Dame, Miami, or other Eastern Schools. Not too excited about the Manitoba exhibition game or the U.S. under 18 games either. Would rather see them play a lower division team in a notable Division I School, such USC with all its PAC 8 championships, or UCLA with its 75 years of hockey tradition. Last year Denver played USC. I think its time for NCAA division I hockey to expand west. http://www.uscicehockey.com/ http://www.uclahockey.org/history.php
  7. http://www.redbulls.com/icehockey/ Very interesting. Click in the English tab if you can't read Deutsch. According to their club history Roger Lamoureux played there in 1977/78. Maybe JPL could get a job there someday.
  8. If we want to massacre a club team I would rather see the Sioux humiliate USC the PAC 10 Champion. http://www.uscicehockey.com/
  9. Good observation. Notice how the media and other special interest groups were very quick to criticize and blame the university, the administration, the Fighting Sioux name, etc., as the underlying cause, even before there was a full investigation. From what I read it seems there was little evidence at first, when the complaint was first presented, just accusations and the picture of a poorly drawn, infinity symbol? True that the victim has rights but the accused also had rights. The university needed to investigate the matter and at least obtain some credible evidence before accusing someone of a crime. Sounds like the administration did a good job of investigating the incident(s). I thought the university also did a good job avoiding the risk of falsely accusing someone. Sounds like they also took action to prevent further incidents in the future. What angers me most about this incident is not that a student misbehaved It's how special interest groups and even university professors, in the guise of protecting someone's rights, purposely accused and attacked the character of others that were not involved in the incident. They blamed the university, and even a deceased alumni for the incident. Seems to me the university was also a victim in this incident, after all it was university property that was defaced. The jewish student may have also been harmed by these special interest groups because typically a victim may want to remain anonymous and may have wanted the issue to be resolved quietly and discretely. It appears that instead of helping the victim they exploited the incident(s) it to promote their own agenda in disregard of the needs of the victim. Maybe instead of creating an environment of fear and mistrust these special interest groups could work with the university to promote our shared common interest which is to make the school a better place for all students.
  10. http://www.forward.com/articles/13290/ Here is a picture of the drawing. See if you can see the Swastika? Can't see it? Then you must be Anti-Semitic too, just like the university president. Maybe the student should be thrown out if he or she plans to be an art major.
  11. Beet farmers also hired local High School kids to hoe weeds. I did it for two summers. It was great motivation for getting a degree. Who wants to hoe weeds for the rest of their life.
  12. I'm currently in law school in Southern California and there are "Mexican" or Latin American students in the upper level classes that will be completing their Juris Doctorate degrees. However for many "Mexican" students there is very noticable evidence of academic underachievement. There may be many excuses for this such as language or cultural barriers, or poor schools. But there is a prevalent and noticable lack of motivation (lazy?), especially in the middle grades to high school. Too often Mexican American students drop out of school and do not go on to college. It is so true that there is no one to stop you but yourself. One of the first truths I learned in law school is that 2/3rds of the students do drop out before year two, and it is not the most intelligent or gifted students but those that put in the time and hard work that succeed.
  13. http://www.dailyastorian.info/main.asp?Sec...amp;TM=56623.66 Article in support of the Fighting Sioux name.
  14. Speaking of infatuated and a need to let it go. http://www.outdooroddities.com/2008/03/24/...on-statue-nsfw/
  15. Makes perfect sence for the Sioux to play the Bison in Fargo. After all Fargo residents pay state taxes and indirectly support UND athletics. So they should have the opportunity to see a good football team play there even if it's only once every other year.
