  1. Nice win over Duquense, a team that was undefeated and picked to make a run at the Atlantic 10 title. This team is growing up!!
  2. UWGB released their schedule and they have the Phoenix in Fargo on Nov. 11th and Grand Forks on Nov. 13th. http://www.greenbayphoenix.com//pdf8/781118.pdf
  3. Bison fell in Flagstaff this season. Decent Yotes win.
  4. Wall had a solid game. For a frosh center, who usually take awhile to develop, she's performing pretty well.
  5. I think SoDakSt is the exception in terms of jumping up to the next level being immediately competitive. Aaron Johnson proven to be very adept at navigating the transition from DII to DI. And while it is understandable that regional school want to emulate the Bunnies success, folks have to recognize that more often than not, that's not going to happen and that it will take 6-7 years to do a successful transition.
  6. WKU actually beat the Bunnies in Brookings.
  7. Gonzaga will make a lot of teams look silly. Their point guard is one of the best in the nation. Not many teams will make the transition to Division One as seamless as SoDakSt. But it helps to play these tough foes as it gives your young players a chance to see what it will take to win at this level.
  8. Nicole and Ada-Borup participated in the Breakdown Tip in Classic. Nicole scored 20 points in a 63-43 loss to Eden Valley-Watkins.
  9. Carly and Eden Prairie are 2-0 with wins over Bloomington Jefferson and Burnsville. Carly scored 11 and 14 in those games.
  10. Yee - Haw!!! Time to get the Party Started!! Maybe with a new coach in Fargo, the Sioux - Bison rivalry can be renewed. It's been absent far to long if you ask me.
  11. Maybe as an assistant. I imagine that the criteria for the had coach will be some affiliation with a Division One program.
  12. With five seniors leaving, and only two recruits coming in, the new coach will have some work to do. Even though the Bison legacy is considerable, if NDSU wants to recruit a firebrand coach, they need to come out with a plan to upgrade the BSA or build a new facility. That's the kind of show of support that is going to attract a coach to Fargo.
  13. I think many folks (Bison fans and otherwise) thought that as well but I'm not sure if those expectations are realistic. Two successful programs that jumped from Division Two to Division One in the mid 1990s didn't achieve great success until almost a decade later. Southeast Mizzouri State, who lost to the Bison in the Division II national championship game jumped up the next year into the Ohio Valley Conference. Back then the transition period from D II to D I was two years instead of five. It wasn't until 2002-2003 that SEMO finished above 4th in the conference. Lately they've put in a good run in the OVC. Portland State was a mainstay in the Division II national tourney in the early 1990s. They jumped to the Big Sky immediately upon tranisitioning to Division One (which is not a strong women's basketball conference outside of the Montana Grizzly), and only once have they finished in the top 5in the conference. I believe South Dakota State's success is much more the exception than the rule for schools moving up to the next level. I don't know how much the Jackrabbit's YEAR ONE schedule of primarily Division One opponents played into being able to recruit strong players who were willing to help see SDSU through the 5 year transition. From a fans perspective, I think watching your team play Division One teams as opposed to a meshed schedule of Division Two and Lower teams in your first year of transition would be more exciting even though the team might lose quite a few games.
  14. Nice win. Good halftime adjustment. It looks like MSU hasn't upped their rebounding from last year as UND had a big advantage on the boards.
  15. Montana State Bobcats swing through the Dakotas this weekend. I'm sure that after playing both Dakota teams, a number of people in the area will be making a comparative "analysis" of how the Bison and Sioux fare against a common foe. I think the Sioux women will do well against Montana State. Last year, they let the Bison starting center go off for a near double double. Kimbrough and Langen should have a field day.
