  1. I believe we did offer him at one time, but the offer was pulled before he had the chance to sign at SDSU. From what I understand he was waiting on some other schools offers and SDSU signed some other folks...when he finally decided the offer wasn't there then and he signed with UND late.
  2. The game with Centenary might not be a highlight, but games with Minnesota, Montana, Illinois, Kentucky, Wisconsin, Oklahoma St, Notre Dame, Nebraska, Alabama, USC, Cal-Poly, Montana St, UC Davis, Northern Colorado, Boston College, UW Milwaukee, Butler, Marquette, Texas Tech, Kansas St, Creighton, Drake, Iowa, Iowa State, Northern Iowa, Air Force, Wyoming, UMKC, etc, sure as hell are. This is only a partial list of the teams NDSU and SDSU have played over the last few years in many different sports. Are they any more interesting than the competition you have mentioned? Not to mention the fact that NDSU and SDSU will be playing for a NCAA birth if invited to the MidCon. Is that any better than playing UMC and Mary in bball? It's too bad UND won't be joining us in this voyage. It's where you guys belong as well.
  3. I would say expansion is a permanant fixture on the agenda at the Mid Con meetings now: http://www.sportsnetwork.com/default.asp?c...=other/news/AON 4020515.htm Valparaiso to the Horizon...This should add to an already interesting situation
  4. Ill honestly admit that Star2City is very knowledgeable, and i enjoy reading his posts. But then he says something like this that is completely untrue and everyone sees it as fact because nobody knows better. It make you wonder how many other times he says something very convincingly that isn't really that accurate and most of us take it as fact...
  5. I am pretty sure 89Rabbit's name begins with "M". Don't act like you know everything Star2City.
  6. Sorry fellas for my opinions, i try to just look around on here but when somebody mentions the jacks i guess it gets me fired up. From what i said, they are just that opinons, i would hope you guys would come back with them of your own team the way i did of mine, otherwise i wouldn't call us true fans. I do think SDSU would have faired well in the NCC this year (we are one of the only teams that didn't lose much and look legitamately better than last year against better or at par competition.) But we will never know. I know i and my fellow jack fans are happy where we are and you and your fellow Sioux fans are happy were you are so the world is good. Good luck and i hope you pound USD back into their football oblivion. We can probably both agree on that subject
  7. i would say the level of football UC DAVIS is playing is ahead of what is being played in the NCC and most of the Great West and DIAA for that matter. Funny how UNO hasn't beat anyone of note besides USD (who hasn't beaten anyone better than my left toe) and some ranked them 2nd in the NCC. What does that say about the NCC. Isn't one of UNO's losses to western washington, didn't they lose to western oregon, who got pasted by UCDAVIS and SDSU. No logic involved there. I forget that SDSU smashed Winona St. as well the 12 ranked team in D2. I'm not saying that SDSU would walk through the NCC or D2 but give some credit where credit is due, i think we would have had a good chance at winning the NCC. I can admit that UND had a fantastic year last year and is on the premiere programs in the nation at the D2 level. ps. I will go back to lurking now on siouxsports, until someone puts down the jacks again.
  8. In ND there might be some discussion and argument to which of the premier universities is the flagship. In South Dakota, naming USD the flagship is ridiculous. It's like calling Tito the best looking most talented Jackson.
  9. I always enjoy reading your posts Star 2 City, its like a good fiction book you just cant beat it.
  10. Star, From the last article from the Honolulu paper, how do you interpret that DU has an offer in hand from the Big Sky?
  11. Corella, Not sure about RPI either but i thought that after next year we (the SU's) would count towards RPI's of opponents but not necessarily establish an RPI of our own. That is maybe why there is a NA in the columns of the provisional schools. Again, I'm not Dick Vitale or Andy Katz on this subject, so any news could help me as well.
  12. Star 2 city, you seem to be very knowledgable and i have enjoyed reading your posts on the topics at hand but, you only provide the negative aspects of this move. Even you as a UND supporter have to see some positives in the SU's quest for DI. First, Clarence Kooistra as mentioned is an idiot. He is South Dakota's Ross Perot, a lot of talk but little support and no chance of ever getting anything accomplished. He is not from vermillion like mentioned above and i believe he is actually an SDSU grad so not necessarily a talking head for USD. Just one that we let go off the deep end. Second, I think the Mid-Con will add NDSU, SDSU, and UNC. Not only would they have a travel partner for Denver, but also another set of partners in their North/South plan. Why do you even bring up how terrible an east/west system would be when a north/south plan is obvious. The mid-con also has strong ties to the introduction and management of the Great west football conference yet another link to the three schools mentioned above. You talk about markets and about Denver and the twin cities being big players in the confernece hunt but you fail to realize that the schools affiliated to those cities (Denver U, UNC, UMD, UND as you point out, Etc) will always play second fiddle in those markets to UofM, CSU, Univ. of Colo. etc. Look at the fan attendance of either NDSU and SDSU compared to rest of the mid con numbers and see if they would benefit the conference by bringin in different markets. Obviously NDSU is the media star in Fargo, and much of ND just like SDSU is or will become in much of SD as the move progresses. We are understandably not totally attractive to conferneces until our provisional time is up but what can you do. It is one of the bad things about moving to DI. You seem to think that as soon as a conference(like the Horizon) offers UND and Duluth a chance to move up you will. What about the 5 years of provisional status then. The chances of a conference asking a school to move up to DI is ridiculous. No one would even look at the SU's until they had officially jumped up. I don't think the Horizon will come knocking of your guys door no offense. Either way, we all have our opinions, i wish you guys nothing but luck in D2 as i would hope you would wish us the best in D1. Think what it would say about the NCC if two schools can leave and become competitive in D1 fairly soon.
  13. doc, why don't you fill us all in if you are in the know. otherwise quit spreading rumors.
  14. Legendless- I am not saying that there is no possibility that Matt Jones would not transfer, just saying i can't see why a student athlete would actively seek out housing and sign a lease if there is still a question in his mind. Think what you want.
  15. sorry to burst your bubble fellas, but matt jones is staying. One of my old roomates in brookings actually just rented him an apartment for next year. I know we will have our work cut out for us next year, but good luck to you guys as well trying to defend MSUM.
