Former Sioux last night....

Jason Blake: Not sure if he got injured before the game or something, but he did not play in this game.

NHL Network's show "NHL On the Fly" did a segment on the Maple Leafs and Ron Wilson. The reason why Jason Blake wasn't due to injury. He's a healthy scratch. They made a big deal over his benching, labelling it as an accountability move.

Apparently the NHL Network analysts feel that Ron Wilson thought Jason wasn't holding his end of the bargain well enough and Ron Wilson decided to send Blake a message.

They used last year as an example. Blake shot the puck over 300 times last season and only scored 15 goals. I didn't really understand how last year could really make a difference as to why he'd be benched this year, but that's what they were talking about.

Chris Porter sent to Peoria.

http://www.sportingnews.com/yourturn/viewtopic.php?t=477464

Porter, 24, had a goal and an assist in five games. He plays a responsible defensive game and seemed to fit in the lineup. However, the Blues had extra forwards and opted to send Porter down for additional seasoning. The team sees Porter as having NHL potential, so the plan is to get him into action at Peoria.

I'm watching the chicago minnesota tilt and seriously... how is Huet a #1 goaltender? he sucks.

I like Khabibulin's chances better. Huet also uses stand up... worked well on Minnesota's second goal.

Chicago is down two and they're already showing signs of folding.

Hey Redwing77 notice that the Wild have scored more than three goals and are still

playing offense? IMHO the Bulin wall is way better than Huet.

We just got back from the Wild/Blackhawks game. It was great to see Toews again. My wife and I both wore our Sioux shirts and he gave a half smile as he was warming up near us. I'll be posting some more photos in the morning.

Toews is off to a tough start....I never would have predicted this start for the Wild.

Toews is off to a tough start....I never would have predicted this start for the Wild.

he is off to a slower start with 5 assists in 9 games and hes getting a little the heat from the fans. he will snap out of it. not 1 goal is brutal for him in this early season. im sure the fans will start to say that wearing the C is maybe a bit much at his age. who knows. im sure he will break out of the goal slump soon! hopefully......

The opposition has tried to check him pretty hard, I don't think he has done too bad.

he hasnt been bad but NO goals in 9 games isnt good at all for him and he would be the first person to say that. he has more of a target obviously but that wont stop toews and every top player in the nhl gets tons of attention

If only the refs would start calling Obstruction and Holding the way they're supposed too...

When I win the lottery I'm going to buy an NHL team and fill it with ex-Sioux players. Here's my team as of today (skaters are from the NHL and AHL):

Parise - Toews - Stafford

Blake - Zajac - Oshie

Bayda - R Johnson - Porter

L Wilson - B Lundbohm - Bochenski

Commodore - Greene

Hale - Lee

Chorney - Smaby

Goehring

Lamoureux

Healthy scratches: Kaip, M Jones and A Schneider

Head Coach: Dave Tippett

Ass't Coaches: James Patrick and Rick Wilson

Video Coach: Steve Peters

For comparison I put together a team of ex-Gophers ( I had to go down to the ECHL to fill out the forwards  ):

Kessel - Okposo - Vanek

R Potulny - Taffee - Wheeler

Irman - W Smith - Chucko

Howe - Guyer - Gordon

Ballard - P Martin

Leopold - Goligoski

Bickel - J Taylor

Frazee

Briggs

IR: Erik Johnson and Tallackson

I team of Sioux forwards and Gopher Dmen would be pretty tough. A little soft in goal, though.
